I dont think its a fixed set up to play, it will interchange between attacking and recovery then defending, changes which side is on attack or being attacked, a bit more fluid interchange.

4-3-3 4-2-4 3-2-4-1 a lot will depend how we are played against. One thing is guaranteed is players running into the box and someone in late to the D to clean up

I’d want to see a formation as follows with the same players . 4 def 3 mid 2 wide mid/att 1 attacker because I think you have to provide cover down the flanks I may even try this out on football managers

The only change I would make is to include Forfana for Disasi when fit.

Great piece Luke. Love the metrics. I love the lineup.

Looking forward to the next 7/10 fixtures where Poch might tinker to slot in both Caicedo and Lavia.

True that Enzo is the oldest midfielder we have and he is 22 - that shows everything everyone needs to know.

Like the lineup and am a massive fan of Chilly, but i’m just not sure if him and Mudryk work together as they take up each other space. Ideally you want Mudryk high and wide 1v1, but then Chilly also wants to be there, unless you asked him to underlap.

I’d probably go with:

Sanchez

James Disasi Colwill Maatsen

Caicedo Enzo

Madueke Nkunku Mudryk

Jackson

Attack in a 325 - Reece, Disasi, Colwill back line, Maatsen inverts next to Caicedo and let’s Enzo get forward - Keep the wingers high and wide.

Hi Mitch, thanks for the comments pal!

On Sunday you'll have noticed Chilly was a lot more inverted which would allow Mudryk the touchlines and Chilly to underlap.

Agree mate, I definitely noticed that he did, but i’m just not sure how good I think he’d be at it?

If he could do it then i’m more than happy for him to start and do that.

Some of Chilly’s best performances have come when hes getting in and around the box, but also like you say hes excellent when hugging the flank and his crossing is underrated

Love this, and the comparison between them.

My perfect XIs (for most opposition) would be a 4231: Sanchez; Chilly, Colwill, Big Ben, James; Enzo, Caicedo; Mudryk, Nkunku, Madueke/Maatsen; Jackson.

Lavia coming in for Madueke/Maatsen for some games, matching your perfect XI.

(For what it is worth, my favourite formation will always be a 4-1-4-1.)

To be fair.. as much as i love Chilwell, im leaning towards Colwill as lb in the hybridrole with Disasi/Badiashille/Silva as our 2 centrebacks.

Gives us the oppertunity to build as a 3 - 2 - 4 -1 with a very solid back 3 in possession. Mudryk out wide and the oppertunity to got enzo very high up the field
