This article starts with Luke admitting he’s not watched a lot of this guy. It’s quite likely that the club and/or Maresca via Leicester have. We want a keeper to play in the sweeper/keeper role and balancing cost/pros/cons we’ve gone for him.
Most likely to compete with Sanchez if we think he’s the best ballplayer of the keepers we already have.
We’ll need a third keeper and sell one other.
This isn’t complicated. It isn’t irrational. It seems boringly straightforward football business to me.
Luke have you seen the netfix doc on Laliga episode 5 you will see Filip J in action, saw Villareal he is a big lad, tendency to go walk about for me but that is where I leave my GK comments never had anything to do back there ;-) If you ever get a chance go to Celta Vigo, fans are great and its not so far from Porto if you like a drive
Thanks Luke once again for a fair and insightful analysis.
I think the most important aspects are that the elements that need to be more natural rather than coached are part of his skill set at the current time. Lots of so-called shortfalls may well be because of the weakness of the defence he was playing behind And/or his age and youth.
I think overall reading your article, looking at the clips you attached and other information that has been available to us all in the last week, this has a very positive outlook for us.
What is it buy 10 and you might get one right. Very little they do seems to be addressing the problems with the team/squad that will play in the premiership. It’s probably why there is such a complete lack of communication. It would be nice to know if any body apart from the fans really cared at all.
the sad thing is petrovic is being pushed out when he was 10x better than sanchez last season. The brighton loverboys are trying to save face by keeping sanchez.
Completely agree and I am a big Petrovic fan but if Petrovic had to come in as no2 and play Maresca’s system it would cause a lot more problems than even Sanchez playing it.
I agree Petrovic is the better keeper by a considerable distance

Completely fair and spot on comment Fraser!!
Why be so desperate to sign him if he has so many liabilities just because he comes so cheap? Do we or don’t we have a scouting staff?

I agree Craige, the bits that can be coached and worked on are his weaknesses, so that’s a positive option for development

They are addressing problems, but just not with the right solutions
Maybe they don’t understand the problems that’s why they are not being solved. They started badly and it appears they are not improving.

Or Maresca rates Sanchez’s sweeper skills more highly than Petrovic’s? Who may become 2nd choice if this new guy arrives.
