Agreed. I think we have improved with our structure and patterns of play both from midfield and up front. Cucurella has looked better in his inverted role and it works with Gallagher who pushes forward but will himself cover the left side deeper when Cucurella over/underlaps and slot back next to Caicedo out of possession as Cucurella drops back towards LB.

Also we have looked excellent in our build up in attack and it hasn’t relied as much on transition as before. The midfield and defence are closer except for times when we have overextended on the front foot and left gaps to be countered too easily. We need to be more press resistant with also more control on the ball and in midfield.

I personally don’t think it will go back to what we doing poorly before because he has now started drilling the players on more complicated tactics and will continue to improve the set up now the players have shown clear improvements and are now understanding their teammates. Poch to remain for me.

The problem is that the SDs have put us in a situation where we have to sell Chalobah and Gallagher. They bought Disasi for example, who is nowhere near as good as Chalobah. Equally, we're going to have to sell Maatsen (having already sold Hall) because Tuchel wanted Cucurella.

I think Pochettino has to stay, but I fear he will decide to walk away.

For me it was too little too late. Changed his tactics forced by injuries and i have a fear it would go back to what we were doing before enzo's surgery because that seemed to be the catalyst for the change. He has relied on Conor's ability to cover a lot of ground in transition defensively something he wont have next year we continue to leak goals (most in our history in the top flight) even with inverting cucarella that is a serious lack of structure cuca can be RB, LB, DM RW, LW he is all over the place and it causes so much space to be left. Yes we have scored a lot of goals but for me there is still no pattern of play up front it is all transition. I am hugely concerned that we revert to start of the season and have to sack him before Christmas and then what do we do cause there isn't many free managers and no decent manager is leaving mid season so you can rule out Amorim, Hoeneb, Motta, alonso all halfway through the season

@TheScore spot on and really refreshing to read. I’ve become so frustrated with the negativity I have read in a variety of places including on this blog. I’m surprised you were able to submit such a positive review which goes against the general negative approach has been taken over the recent weeks and months. Your analysis completely highlights the improvement we have seen throughout the season. No one is saying it’s perfect, but it has definitely been a vast improvement on what we have seen over the last 2 to 3 years and the general decline of the team over the last 4 to 5 years. We now have a group of young footballers that are starting to show they want to fight and win for Chelsea. There is a vast opportunity to see improvement in all of these players and those that don’t make it will get sold on some of them for considerable profit. I don’t want to see Gallagher or Chalobah, sold but I do understand why players like Dasasi was purchased after we had two cents halves injured in Quick succession one of whom was out for the whole season and the other other for over 50%. At times action of this nature is required. Thank you for also highlighting that the SD’s adjusted the European target after the first group of injuries arose at the beginning of the season. There’s also seems to have been forgotten. Thank you for all of your articles during the course this season and rounding this season up is such a simple and accurate way.

I prefer the facts not hearsay or what is decided in the pub over 6 pints of beer.

In his first full season at PSG they won ligue 1 but went out to Real Madrid in champions league stages.

PSG have never won the champions league and he left at the end of the season despite having a reasonable track record of wins.

The Score another nailed on article thank you.

Data means nothing if it does’nt end up in results on the pitch.

Data is a lot of IFS and that does’nt count.

Data is decieveable. You can twist and turn it to fit your narrative.

I would say: use your eyetest more. Its a lot more telling about how things actually are.

If we just saw a system and style of play i wouldnt want poch out, im just not a fan of this freestyle football. The last 5 games showed a little more promise with our build up and defence but still not enough over a full season. its not even about the results i just want to see something to know "yeah we just need to build and add quality and we will be a force". reality is even if you keep adding quality and experience we will never be that great team, maybe a good one but not great. Poch had all the quality at psg but he underperformed, because the tactical side was lacking so what are we really doing here?
