Gallagher, Chalobah - surplus to requirements, profit
Sterling, Casadei, Broja, Chilwell - we can do better
A few others on loan only
For me, Mudryk and Noni need to improve to keep their lockers.
In, these in priority order.
A big strong #9, Toney, Samu. I like Guiu here too. I think Osimhen is best of breed and would not object. Actually we could stop there.
Left wing, Nico. No one else comes close. Long shot, but needs to be better than Sterling/Mudryk. If we get a good striker I also like Jackson here.
GK, no stand outs here. Maybe Pickford or Martinez, but don’t see this Danish guy working out. definitely keep Jordie, maybe loan out for now.
A lot of talk about the financial limits. We clearly have lawyers that can work around these obstacles. But right now I see management wanting very much to stay within not just the letter, but the spirit of the league’s rules. They’re high profile, new kids on the block, and they’ve inherited some shady deals yet to be adjudicated. So with that in mind, I say we only need a couple more additions. Pay the price and reduce the overall size of the squad. Could get us close to compliance.
I think it achieves nothing to suggest names that are clearly not going to come to Chelsea. The squad going to the US was weak. Another restart and how many more.
Hi Luke I suppose I’m saying I don’t think this season is going to be any better or maybe worse. I looked at the squad flying to the US and it didn’t fill me with confidence even though some were missing. This process started by the new owners started badly and that’s going to be hard to turn around. They don’t seem able. I feel it’s pointless speculating on players that won’t come to Chelsea at the moment. Sorry to be negative but it’s what I see at the moment.
Entitled to your opinion Nick. I disagree almost entirely but that is the beauty of opinions and football everybody has their own interpretations and reasonings.
A winger for me is not as essential as a GK and ST/CF.
For GK, I’d love Diogo Costa. But also think that Pickford would be a massive improvement. He is just prone to a mistake.
For ST, Ollie Watkins would be my first choice. Big fan of Julian Alvarez too. Toney would be an improvement, but is yet to offer a return following his ill-health related ‘hiatus’.
I’d be concerned about pathways if we sign a top class winger. If Estevao is meant to be as good as he is predicted to become, then signing a £70m+ winger for 6-8years would hamper this development. That said, Grealish is an absolute delight to watch (when it’s not against you). Grealish winning free kicks; palmer and RJ delivering crosses; Toney knocking them in. 😍
I think the most urgent positions are GK and a winger (ideally someone who can play on the left as well as the right), however, I'd like to sign a striker too. Of the three I believe the goalkeeper is the most important, as our issue last season was the defence, not the attack and because Maresca needs a ball-playing keeper.
GK: I'd go for Diogo Costa if we have the money, however, I'd be more than happy with Valles (ideal for Maresca) or Bulka. (I don't like Jorgensen btw).
On the wing I would ideally go for Eze (versatile attacker - could even play as an advanced 8).
CF: I'd go for Alvarez, as he'd suit Maresca's vision of a striker as someone who can drop into the midfield and link-up during build-up.
Just get JULIAN ALVAREZ
Out:
Lukaku, Kepa - take whatever we can get, now
Gallagher, Chalobah - surplus to requirements, profit
Sterling, Casadei, Broja, Chilwell - we can do better

Sorry Nick, not sure I follow what you mean?
