Covering: Fulham reflections, Sources on Marcus Thuram, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Noni Madueke, and more, Addressing Potter's leadership comments, Plus all the latest CFC news and transfer rumours!
I thought it was the most fluid we have looked in an attacking sense in a long time (until the red card), despite us again utilising a midfielder in the front 3.
We were abject defensively, pretty much across the board.
Kepa is reverting to type now, two huge errors in successive league games have cost us points. He's an accident waiting to happen with his sweeping outside the box as well.
The likes of Kovacic, Havertz etc simply are not of the level we require. Get rid of them. How many more chances are they going to get?
I've no idea what side we can put out on Sunday but I don't want to see Jorginho / Kovacic / Havertz / Ziyech / Azpilicueta anywhere near it. I fear all 5 of them will start.
But an elite manager will still be able to pin point those bad apples and with the backing of the board, have them gone.
But Potter is not that elite manager.
An elite manager would adapt to the situation and drag out some wins or draws, get some points on the board for sometime and then Instill in his tactics when he has a complete squad.
This form isn’t justifiable and Si can continue with this one sided narrative of not laying any blame at Potters feet or he should be safeguarded at all costs, but the sooner the owners take the L and make a change the faster we stop the rot and return to some sort of normalcy
What’s happening behind the scenes Si? The body language from the players is awful. We had 6 internationals stating that game that are relied on for their country yet we still lost it’s baffling.
15 points out out of a possible 36 in the league, so we're "earning" 0.42 points per game
We have a 33.33% win rate in the league since his appointment
We have won 1 in our last 10 league fixtures
We have won 3 in our last 13 games in all competitions
Potter has now had 19 games in charge in all competitions - W8 D4 L7 F14 A20
We have scored 2 goals once in our last 9 league fixtures; you need your defence to be perfect if you're going to win games on that basis. Unsustainable
Here's the really concerning stat - our run rate now puts us on course to finish on 34 points in the league, if Potter completes the season.
The injuries are hampering him. But has that anything to do with the players' fitness levels? They look out of condition, to me.
It's only an impossible job until you find a manager that can actually do the job. I think Potter's uphill challenge from day one is lacking the experience and gravitas to get the players' buy in to his methods. Whilst several I'd love to see gone now, the players will become less trusting of the manager's methods because of our results.
Now I agree, there are many players are just not up to it and we all pretty much have the same view of who they are. But Potter has tried so many different line ups and formations, it suggests that he's running out of ideas
Did anyone actually believe we'd win the game at 1-0 down?
Did anyone believe we'd hang onto draw when down to 10 men?
How bad were Kepa (again) Chalabah (can't run, head and sense danger.). All on my previous posts!
And Kovacic was worse than on Sunday.
As for Potter?
Stood like a Dummy when we went down to 10 men... Should have made THE 4 subs then, to inject some energy into the team for the last half hour.
The only plus point was Felix who looked like a player we have been crying out for, for the past 3 years!
Now banned for 3 games and Zakaria looks like he's done his knee ( player number 5 to do that).
I can't see a way out of this mess.
Potter with his comments looks truly out of his depth backed up by his comments yesterday.
We all don't want a merry go round of managers, but I will once again say he is the wrong man for the job.
My sons say give him the rest of the season, both were at the game last night. But lose to Palace and obviously lose to Liverpool how much lower are we prepared to go!
Tough times... Joao was unbeliveble up until the red card. If he continus like this surely we’ll go for him permanently, we need to! Got them Hazard vibes about him where he can create stuff by himself. Him and Nkunku would cook together.
We really need to get a midfielder in NOW! Surely we’ll put even more work into that now that Zakaria got injured? We need to get one in really really quick and a certain RC should be activated without doubt.
A few things...

Don’t rate some of the players

Toxic mate. Impossible to unite. Been that way for long before Potter.
Don’t even know what needs to happen at this point how likely is it to get rid of 10 plus players quick enough that we don’t really start to suffer

We are in a relegation battle
I hate to break it to you, but this is all true even if Potter doesn’t finish the season.
So it's unreasonable to think that a different manager would get a better tune out of this squad of players?
I think so, yes. I'm sure you and many others will disagree. Fair play.
But tell me this... What manager turns this team around with all of the injuries and shit performances? I'm genuinely curious.
And how many managers do you need to see get the same shit results before it stops being about the manager?
The injuries are hampering him. But has that anything to do with the players' fitness levels? They look out of condition, to me.

Another depressing day again.

Anything from your source’s about Potter’s position at the club and how safe/unsafe his is ?
