One thing I don’t see is anybody mentioning his age which is 31, whilst he has had calf, thigh & hamstring injuries he could still do a turn for us and I doubt we would see more than a 2 year contract running to the end of the 25/26 season with an option for a 3rd.

Would seem to be a low risk option which gives us a chance to bring other strikers on as well as getting in a marquee signing.

It would be interesting to hear what his salary expectations are and whether the club is prepared to meet them under the new salary structure. Presumably, the player will regard this as his last big contract?

Yes, if it's worth it buying him and use him as a rotational striker that should avoid injury proneness. At the same time we could just manage his minutes to make success where or when need to.

Injuries are one of the big issues I have with Wilson. The stats and what he provides is glare great, but he does tend to miss an awful lot of games with assorted muscle injuries.

It would depend on the fee that we’d have to pay, but I think he could be a very good stopgap until we figure out who we want long term in that position.

Even back when we were linked to him a few years ago, that was still my big concern. He’d look world class and score a ton of goals for a month and a half, but then he’d pick up an injury and be out for the next two months.

If he scored 6/7 goals in the last 4 months of the season that would be a success for me!

Oh, I’d agree, as long as the price is under £20M because he basically has no resale value. I think there are probably ways to manage his game time, but he does have a knack for scoring, which is very much needed.
