I can start to see why we signed him. As solid and versatile as Chalobah is, Disasi at his best is just colossal and dominant. His performance against Man City was something I haven't seen in a Chelsea team for years.

I think it's important to have at least one dominant CB in a CB pairing (ex: Rudiger, Cahill, Terry). In recent years, we struggled with CBs like Luiz, Christensen who are more ball playing but not proper defenders and I think this team needs a CB with the profile of Disasi.

My view he's been the best central defender this season. Not the best technique but the most valuable to the team. He makes some bad passes, but then I saw Carvalho pass straight to opposition striker, but his energy, strength, availability and fitness are right up there. He also has enough pace to play right back, something Silva for instance could not do. And now he is showing his personality.

I agree. So much improved since playing as a CB rather than full back. Good physical presence, which we've been lacking. Your article reminded me how much we've missed and still miss Toni Rudiger.
