Todd isn't "perfect", literally no owner is. The mess the previous ownership left behind in 2022 - no data, barely any recruitment or commerical structure - would have been tough for anyone, yet alone someone new to football.

Behdad was as equally obsessed with Brighton as Boehly, if not more so. It's become clear, it was him who pushed to sack Tuchel more than Todd, and him who mainly fell out wth Tuchel, with Boehly as the mediator.

The summer 2022 signings were pretty much all Tuchel recommendations, Boehly trusted his judgement, he didn't pick any of those players, hell he didn't even want to be sporting director, but Marina had to go due to the self-reported allegations and Cech left. I mean, Behdad trusted the judgement of Winstanley and we ended up overpaying for Mudryk who clearly isn't good enough.

Interesingly, if we'd kept Potter till the summer, based on his points per game, we'd likely have finished higher than we did by sacking him and appointing Lampard. Which again, was Behdad's idea, Todd felt we should give Potter till the summer.

I felt Poch earned another season, but I'm not unhappy with Maresca. He needs time, Todd is right in saying stability helps create success - it has at City and Liverpool, and even Arsenal to a degree. Constantly changing managers won't create success.

Whoeever ends up as owner, its clear both parties want to create a winning team on the pitch, both are ambitous. It's simply a case of who you trust more with Chelsea's future, and people are entitled to their views.

People who talk about that first window under Boehly seem to forget that we were sanctioned up until that point, which meant that Boehly could not hire any sporting directors or any other staff prior to the takeover and thus we were behind all the other teams in doing groundwork for getting deals done. So he was essentially forced to be the sporting director himself and he just got whatever Tuchel wanted.

Obviously it wasn't ideal but I have faith that he'll have Chelsea's best interests at heart and actually sees us as a football club and not an asset like Clearlake do.

I haven't Kene!

We listened to what Tuchel wanted and are still paying the price for it.

Sterling springs to mind.

So what's the explanation for appointing Potter, Winstanley and Stewart in Sep/Oct 2022? I probably am one of the few who don't criticise the owners on here. But I'm intrigued how those that do seem to justify one parties actions over another.

More info coming out that Boehly wanted to keep Poch after we won our last five games against teams on the beach. If that's not the ultimate red flag I'm not sure what is. Clearlake & the current structure have built a squad I wouldn't swap for any other in the league, our transfer windows will calm massively now - when we start to win there's going to be a lot of U turns...

I can't believe that Boehly could watch the entirety of last season, the way we played, the way we got battered against big teams away from home & wanted us to stick with Poch. That's hugely concerning, Egbahli didn't accept that - he wants to win.

Poch couldn't work within the current sporting structure - whether that is on Boehly, Clearlake or both is open for debate. For each of those batterings we had some very good away results and performances too. Not defending Poch at all, just offering balance.

Regards the squad, really...? We have no elite GK despite signing 5 or 6 in the last TWO years (Mamardashvilli was right there as just one example - 35m?!?!, and to be fair, Penders seems to have the ability to potentially become that but we were rinsed on the price), not a single midfielder capable of dominating in the air or across the ground (Lesley YES but is not in the squad this year when we’re really missing that profile, and I love Romeo & Moi for what they do but that ain’t it - again, Onana was right there), and no elite goalscorer up front let alone a serviceable backup (and I love Nico!). Any genuine first team needle movers were totally fumbled (Olise/Osimhen). When Estevao and Kendry join we will also have 3 or 4 players who have supposedly been promised they have a pathway at the no10 position.

The squad build has been misguided and messy, and thats putting it lightly. And that’s without even touching on the treatment of academy players who bleed blue and are genuinely better players (based on performance, not opinion) than ones we have brought in for their positions, helping to create a chasmic disconnect between fans, club and academy. First window, Boehly was under the guidance of Tuchel who has questionable talent ID in a ridiculously frantic summer and overspent. I can’t see how anyone can genuinely believe our squad build since then has been positive overall when looking at it objectively.

Everyone loves to bang on about a number 9 but can you name top 9s out there? No, I’m not having Osimhen as a top 9 - plays in serie A & has had one good season. Arsenal play without a 9, as do Liverpool, as did Spurs last year all of which finished above us. CL winning Madrid also played without a 9. Scoring goals was never our issue, it was keeping them out - record goals conceded last season. Same for the keeper, which keeper can we go & sign that is risk free? I liked Petrovic btw. I don’t think there’s an obvious choice to go & get in goal that would’ve been at a reasonable price. Only players from the academy I think are better than current options are Hall, Trev & Guehi (sold under the old ownership). Loved Con but does he play in a PL winning team. I loved Mase but Palmer is miles better!!! Also need to remember Reece (academy graduate) is our captain & Levi is a nailed on starter (&probs a captain at points). Ask yourself this question, Wouk you swap out squad for any other in the league?? We have unbelievable quality & depth in this squad.

Yeah, people seem to forget that Egbahli got more involved after Todd secured all those summer 2022 deals and then got obsessed with Potter at Brighton when dealing with them over Cucurella and had the whole fanbase saying the head coach was massively out of his depth.

I'm shedding no tears over Poch going.

We were all over the place, ALL season.

Poch is no loss to our club.

It has set us back a bit with another new manager.

But I feel we are already better tactically under Enzo.

There has been no balance in our recruitment since the takeover imho whether your in the Boehly camp or the Clearlake camp there are pluses and minuses once you remove your rose tinted beer goggles.

Boehly in some people’s opinion had a poor start and made mistakes but has a history of employing people to do the job so he doesn’t have to and runs a major sporting franchise long term.

Clearlake project hijacked by Egbali and despite everything run by bean counters who won’t change course and improve the 1st team whilst overpaying for virtually every teenager they’ve bought in the hope of turning a profit.

Btw don’t expect the profit to go back into the club it will flow out to Clearlake as dividends leaving Chelsea saddled with debt when they do finally sell up.

On the positive side there have been some successes like Palmer but not nearly enough and only lip service paid to the fans who rightly demand marque signings in the positions that matter.

Going forward Boehly wants stability whilst Clearlake will probably rinse another manager at the end of the season if demands for CL football fail again.

I take everything nowadays with a pinch of a salt. Whether it's Boehly or Clearlake that did all that or it was both sides I really don't care, but I care what they've done. So, now that this marks another dark story of our club history I wanted to remind everyone what we had been having for 20 years before Clearlake/Boehly showed on the horizon.

All that Abramovich built and created at the club CAN NOT be even painted with a brush by the current management (probably never ever). So, I like to recall old times in these moments to show respect to those who contributed more or less for our history.
