Why I have Osimhen doubts, Toney over-priced but available, Benzema no brainer, Penny for the thoughts of Armando Broja, Bobby Vincent's transfer updates, Loan army report, Full news roundups, More...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Friday 19th January 2024!
Morning all!
Happy weekend to everyone!
No Chelsea this weekend as we get a bit of an extra break from playing ahead of our big League Cup semi final second leg match against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
Until then though, there is always plenty to talk about, especially as we are currently in a transfer window. We had Football London’s Chelsea insider Bobby Vincent join us on the Podcast yesterday with myself and Jai. So if you haven’t yet, get the latest exclusive Chelsea transfer info from Bobby here.
I wanted to pen my thoughts and updates on a lot of the big subjects from this week next.
Armando Broja has stolen the headlines with reports claiming Chelsea are up for selling him this month. I have a lot to say on this, including addressing all the reports about his valuation, whether I’d be content with him being sold or not, and what a negative effect this will all be having on him. Get my full thoughts on all of that in here.
The other big headline is the future of Karim Benzema and whether Chelsea will be looking at him as a short-term option this month (they absolutely should be). In this one as well, I explain why I have some MAJOR doubts over spending £112m on signing Victor Osimhen this summer (if that is what we try and do), and I give my thoughts on other options such as Dusan Vlahovic, Benjamin Sesko, and Ivan Toney. Read all about that in here.
It’s that time of the week again to check in on how our loan players are doing. And we have our resident scout Luke on the case. You can see how they are all fairing up, including some new players out on loan, in here.
I’ve honed in on some comments made by Chelsea legend Pat Nevin this week on the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge and added my two pence worth in here!
And of course, roundup all of your latest Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in one place from yesterday’s live blog here.
Right, I’ll be back on the site on Sunday with some transfer updates and building up to the big cup game in the week. Until then though, and I have a feeling I might need to, I’ll jump on the Substack App chat feature to put out any sourced news I get in or speak on any big news that comes out!
Have a great weekend all and go check out some local football if you can in the absence of Chelsea playing! Lets keep supporting the grassroots game!
Peace, Si.
