I play a lot of golf and never worry too much if I don’t start well unfortunately these days it happens far too frequently what matters is how you finish.
To my mind if we are clicking as a team by the end of November we stand an excellent chance of making CL places.
I agree with a lot of what is said , I think that it has been refreshing to see move coordinated passing and off the ball movement and the ball actually being played through into someone’s run in the box. The individual errors have to be eliminated as we always seem to get punished when we make them. Also, I think that Enzo chose to experiment with his lineup versus City, knowing we will be playing them in 2 weeks.. my guess is he was specifically looking to find tactical holes in Peps system to test exploiting them. I am strangely optimistic that we will be successful this season and they we might even have games where we are ruthless in our play. Hopefully the go up 1-0, then relax mentality from the players is gone. Also, I think that Lavia will begin to show that he is the best of the 3 big midfielders that we signed.
thank you for reading and your comment! I am optimistic too, I truly believe that he will select a lot of Raheem Sterling and KDH in the beginning. Both have played in that system before and will be less prone to mistakes. Wouldn't be opposed to Lavia starting with Enzo instead of Caicedo for a little bit too.
I agree with a lot of this article. People will overreact to the City match because of the two absolute disasters that happened in the first 10 minutes and how every giveaway in midfield leads to high-quality chances for the opponents. While this is a problem, it's something that shouldn't be as much of a problem once everyone gets settled in to the positional aspects of the formation and start to adapt their decision-making on when to play short, medium, and long and how players move to give them those options. That only comes with time.
My biggest concern is what happens if we lose the opening match to City and draw a couple games before the first international break. We can see the good parts of what Maresca wants, but getting the decision-making/positional part of the tactic correct will take time. If we don't get results in the first month, the fanbase will have the pitchforks and knives out and demand that he's sacked before the first international break, which doesn't help anyone.
thanks for reading and your comment Justin. Starting out fast will be imperative I think. I do also agree with Pep that the field in Columbus was an issue, I think usually some of those passes are complete. Time is required in the longrun for success and I 100% believe the sporting directors will give him plenty of time simply because they have overhauled their entire operation to play his style.

Btw thanks for the read Dylan
Be patient - this is going to SUCK til they start clicking in January.
Thanks for that interesting article Dylan…. Excited to see what we produce in the opening 5 / 6 games
Think it could be shaky, but hopefully we win the games were supposed to.
