Enjoyed the read as you came at the issue from a completely different angle which was refreshing.
Tbh I’ve started to wish Jim Ratcliffe had won the race to own the club because when you look at th3 shake up at Man U it’s everything we’ve needed but haven’t had.
In addition he kept the manager and this years recruitment has looked sensible and a step in the right direction.
A really good article and I agree when the players cross the line whether they are the men’s team, the women’s, development etc we support them. I’m 65 and for me it’s not just about winning although that is great it’s also about feeling proud to be a Chelsea fan. The ownership makes that very difficult they appear arrogant and out of touch. I can’t blindly support some of the things they have done or are doing. The owners have had 4 transfer windows and the SD's 2 and Lukaku is still at the club and the squad is still missing 2 essential players. A top goalkeeper and striker and we have far too many No.10's and wide forwards. We have a new manager with a new system and I feel sorry for him already. These people are supposed to know what they are doing.
"I personally believe wherever we stand, the best we can do for our club, is forget about the owners and directors and any gripes we have with them. Instead, lets just focus on supporting the team who go and represent us on the pitch, even the players we don’t necessarily rate or want. "
I most certainly can do better here. UTC!
But at the same time I'm hoping the owners and directors won't do too much damage to the club's future.
Great article and well said, we can be critical of some of the mistakes the ownership group and sporting directors and still root for the team as hard as we ever have. Still a lot of uncertainty for this season but if given a choice I’ll take optimism over hating any day of the week.
@TheScore so you hit the nail on the head once again and thank you for putting this out there.
You’re not alone with your views and there are more people that are supportive of the approach you suggest then you may think. They just tend to be the silent majority on social media these days. I know that some are even worried about commenting on articles at this nature as they don’t want to be targeted. (More in respect of other avenues than this particular blog).
We should all be excited with a young team with full of talent that we have. It’s different, there will be ups and downs, but it will be exciting. I remember the Eddie McCreadie team led by Butch Wilkens (yes I’m that old) and that was a fantastic error full of the excitement I mentioned above.
100% we all just need to get behind the players on the pitch and the managers support them through thick and thin, become the 12th man again and forget about moaning at the first chance that arises which was the case by some in the ground at the weekend.
Thank you for posting this article. I repeat you’re not alone with your thinking and I’m sure you’ll get a lot of support.💙😁👍👏
the club will always be supported by the fans no matter what and where they play. However you just cant gloss over the fact that since this ownership has came in it has been utter chaos, disingenuousness and ineptness on show. No matter the how much positive PR is spouted about them the fact is ..
they took over a £3b, debt free, football club & within 3 years of ownership they are forced to sell their club hotel, woman’s team & all their homegrown players to stay afloat... people like you praise them on wages but the spending has been reckless (>£1.2bn spent) and on top of it & nothing looks improved bar minority of players.... we have had our worst season in 30 years and then finished 6th.
Not to mention the 3 managers and 2 interims and im pretty sure this one also wont last too long either
Great article Score👍👍 when the team crosses the white line, no matter what our point of view is, it should be innate in us to gives these boys our full backing…. Booing before, during or after is not supporting it’s only adding support to the views of those in the media / social media who need clickbate headlines…. And more importantly is has to effect performances…. Young players need your backing not your hacking
