Very interesting and thought-provoking article.

It’s useful to try and understand the motivation and strategy of a group of people it would be easy to dismiss with a string of expletives.

I want success as much as the next Chelsea fan, and am finding it difficult to comprehend how we are in our current position.

I also am keen for us to not continue the “hire’em and fire ‘em” philosophy, when a poor string of results bought instant dismissal for the manager and a large payout.

I am trying to be patient and trust that the positive signs that I see and hear will grow into sustained success. It’s not good enough at the moment, but I believe it will be. Keep the faith!!

very thorough and informative article - good read. Let's hope and pray it all works through and we have the patience. Rome wasn't built in a day!

On what basis is Joe Shields and elite scout. If he's as good as you say then he'd still be employed by City

Thanks for that Score. It is helpful to see Plan A laid out clearly. And, as far as Plan A goes, you are undoubtedly right. However, Plan A implies the existence of Plan B. As Feliciano said "the best" but not only way of making a profit out of Chelsea is as you describe - but the key question is: what will they do if they don't hit their milestones? What if the commercial income doesn't grow at the rate they anticipate (I'm sure that one is already in trouble) and, especially: what if the on field success lags the plan? As you say, this is a relatively risky plan but the risk sits with the club not the investors. Plan B will be to get their money back one way or another - which is why any plan to move away from the Bridge always rings an alarm bell with me as the massive chunk of prime real estate must be burning a hole in their back pocket. So let's not categorise all criticism of the owners as a reactionary temper tantrum. There are legitimate reasons to worry that they are rolling the dice with our club, and if the banker needs paying it won't be Todd, Jose and Erhad losing their shirts. This is why the squad building is so key: it's the bedrock on which their future plan is built - so critiquing it isn't just squealing and wishing for Roman. It's seeing them make a mess of it on their own terms - and that has to be a cause for concern for the long term.

Didn’t Ken Bates create a trust to hold the ground in which is not owned by the club therefore the following applies https://www.chelseafc.com/en/chelsea-pitch-owners#:~:text=Welcome%20to%20the%20website%20of,and%20the%20name%20Chelsea%20FC.

In a nutshell Through a wholly owned subsidiary (Chelsea Stadium Limited), CPO own the freehold of the footprint of the current stadium. The physical evidence of this is seen in the change in brick colour on the ground in places such as outside the megastore. This indicates the boundary. The stadium is leased back to Chelsea, who pay a nominal rent to CPO.

Indeed, and the CPO can (and must) agree to move out of the Bridge for it to happen. I'm sure it very much annoys the owners, as it will have done for Roman.

This ownership is the worst thing to happen to us in recent history. Due to their poor decision making & strategy they have reduced a top club (which had some issues) to almost a rubble. Iv never seen any ownership speed up the demise of a club in just over a year. In the end they will learn the hard way when we would have spent a few years in European wilderness. Maybe that’s the humbling they need!

You either will be saying “I told you so” or being very quiet when the club proves you wrong!
