Once again, I love the article. With one exception. Let’s be honest and clear about it Ken Bates only wanted our money and really had anything good to say about supporters. He created a force impression of a connection with us but in reality didn’t want to hear from us, didn’t listen to us and did what he always did - his own thing. Talk to a good game but in reality nearly drove the club bankrupt.
Scored spot on again despite the fact that I wouldn’t class myself as in “it’s not Chelsea anymore brigade”.
Football is a cycle your up , down stuck in mid table relegated, promoted & win cups if your lucky.
When I look back over the years to when I first started supporting Chelsea in the late 1960s I remember periods when we had fantastic teams ie 1960s early 70s and times when until the European influx of the late 1990s early 2000s we were stuck in the journeyman category due to financial difficulties.
For the supporters from the last 25 years I suggest they look at the club history to get a real feel for being Chels or for that matter being a Chelsea supporter… I’m not saying, before someone criticises me, that they aren’t real supporters but I am saying turn the telescope round and look at the bigger picture.
Having said all that there are clear structural problems at the club and that needs to be sorted, the pressing need is the 1st team and we all know the positions.
Mr Score .. Egbali and co might read the site but it’s obvious to me that anything that criticises them is water off a ducks back they don’t pay attention.
So we have another manager Maresca that isn’t getting what he needs to do the job and I wonder if at the end of the season he will be toast as a result of being blamed for others lack of ability?
Btw This was exactly my fear when Poche but the dust.
&&&& here we are again, moaning about the "depth" in the squad. Go & have a look at the Liverpool team that played in Holland last night - do they have better depth than us...?
They have way better structure, better squad accustomed to their style, squad been together for longer, elite players, more experienced players and leaders, renovated stadium, very very knowledgeable and experienced SD and DOF, owners running the club for quite some time and more. I definitely believe Liverpool are way above and beyond us.
I'm just talking about the depth, that was there second string side with 11 changes like we have in the conf league. If they get any key injuries they will be screwed like any other team is in the league.
Experienced players there are aging with 6 months left on their deals, let's see how they cope without VVD, Salah & Alison. VVD leaving Liverpool will be like when JT left us...
That is where Liverpool play odd with their players. But squad depth they have is just about enough. I get your point and you're right. Liverpool however have 22-23 competitive players and just look better than us because of some of the abovementioned reasons.
Is it? Who comes in if VVD gets injured? What happens if they lose Gravenberch or Salah? Liverpool just have very effective attackers & a rock solid centre half. Thats why they are where they are, take Salah & VVD out there team/squad - it's actually very average.
VVD and Salah are two that don't have adequate replacement. Rest do have. One of the reasons I say they have depth in squad is the fact the players have played together for quite some time. Gravenberg can be covered by Endo just fine. He isn't special. Nor MacAlister or Szlobozlai. Not to mention rest. They are just enough to each other because they all play the same style and are good at it.
Well let these players play together for some time then!! This is what I've been saying - I don't think the likes of KDH, Felix, Gusto, Tosin are bad backup players at all - I can't think of any team in the league that can bring in on a Neto/Madueke, Felix, KDH, Nkunku, Gusto etc...

Great piece echoing many fans feelings , I to feel my Chelsea is no longer a family .

Thanks for the article. You seem to write more more lately. Hopefully someone hears us.
