Fact a manager shouldn’t have to change his style to manager the team rather the team should be able to play however the club & manager want them to play.
Fact this is unlikely to happen if you only recruit young players because of lack of experience.
Fact the club needs to support and listen to the manager whoever that is to generate a cohesive way forward.
Fact SD’s haven’t supported Poche & his team failing to bring in one experienced player to improve the team.
Fact regardless of what you pay Chelsea need a manager not just for a season but for multiple seasons and a top manager will not want to come to Chelsea for the right reasons when he knows they want be supported.
Far too pessimistic. You just need to identify an up and coming manager that sees the opportunity to manage at a wealthy club with some of the world's best young talent.
The managers exist I am guessing several of them, the skill is identifying one that is a fit for the club. Look at Ange Postecoglou, not at Spuds but at Celtic. The guys there expected him to to be sacked in 3 weeks. In Sydney we used to get questions, "who is this guy". I only mention him as one example. Tuchel and Nagelsman both sprang on the scene.
We continue to see messaging that the sporting directors have done a bad job or should be kicked out. They have only been in place for two transfer windows, the second of which there was little or no action. Everyone forgets what a great job they did, clearing the decks of deadwood and expensive players. You cannot make a decision on their quality and such a short period of time, the same goes with our current manager who has so many positives and obviously has the backing of the players. As for the owners, they had a vision from what I see they are going down the route of that vision which they presented at the outset. It is not an overnight solution. They said it was a 10 year plan.
Why is everybody in such a rush to rattle the cake shake everything up again. As I have previously stared, I fully accept that not everything is perfect, but the club was turned on its head with the sanctions and I don’t really believe anyone understands the damage that created Petr Chec’s comments last weekend gave some insight. For one, he kicked into touch, the delusional comments that he was sacked. He made that decision off his own back and thought it was the right time for him to move on. There is so much hearsay, rumour and misinformation circulated. Yet again, it’s important for us to be patient and look at the long game. Petres comments were sound. We have to accept that we are in a development phase, it was unrealistic for us to expect Champions League football this season. Yes, it should be a target for next season and challenging for the league is probably 2/3 years away if not further.
I’ve echoed your comments a couple of times, Craige. This is long term and whilst a possible revisionist approach would suggest that they could have bought one or two more established names, that may not have been the remit, or indeed were burnt by thoughts of Aubameyang and KK. It’s way too early to make any real judgement if they are trying something entirely new. Also think it’s too early to make a judgement on Poch. The variables around him are huge in terms of inexperience, injuries and turnover of players. Give it time everyone!
The Score this another great article that helps a lot to understand the past and the current situation in the club. Good to know what happens in other clubs too.
the biggest reason to put off any new manager would be the structure. No one is saying that the manager should have all the power but he should have a say and not have players imposed on him plus the consistent meddling of our very own Moshiri (Eghbali).
Read this regarding Dan Ashworth today:
'At his previous clubs, Ashworth has operated using a three-pronged ‘traffic-light’ system regarding transfers.
The recruitment department would have a vote, while the financial package behind a deal had to make sense, and then the final call was given to the head coach/manager; if all three returned green lights, the club would proceed.
Importantly, this way, the head coach does not have players forced upon him, or the autonomy to sign whoever he likes.'
This is what a collaborative approach looks like not the one way collaboration that our idiotic SDs and owner want.
I think they were fully willing to back Tuchel until they realised he wouldn't fit their ideal model for running the club, and rather than tweaking a few of their expectations to better suit a world-class manager they replaced him with an unproven up-and-comer in Potter who they thought would get on with better with them on a personal level. Maybe one of the worst decisions in terms of impact on the club in recent years as Tuchel was fully willing to stay through thick and thin. In any scenario where he to make a return they'd need to have a clear notion of how to operate, with maybe the transfers and scouting taken out of his hands (minus maybe the final sign off) so he can focus purely on coaching the squad.
I think in the long run, you would all find out that TT wanted out and made it highly difficult for the ownership to work with him like they had planned to from the outset. There is/has been mistakes made by both parties in that respect at the time. TT is not whiter than white and has a track record of pissing off the ownership.
Sorry I just don't believe he wanted out, I think that's just speculation considering the tweet he made the day he left and the fact he said himself he was shocked after the meeting and didn't expect to leave for many years indicates otherwise.
Let's have a look at his track record of not getting along with ownership:
Mainz - Left because he wasn't being backed despite being their most successful ever manager.
Dortmund - Mutual disagreements over transfer decisions with Zorc and Watzke which boiled over so blame can be put on both sides.
PSG - Didn't get along with Leonardo, a renowned egotist who failed to meet the club's expectations even with managers like Ancelotti and Emery before Tuchel even came around, and was later removed from post himself.
Chelsea - Had no issues with ownership under Abramovich as he was allowed to focus on his coaching with only the occasional contact with Cech and Marina, Clearlake ownership gave him new responsibilities he didn't want and didn't fulfil so they sacked him, which has contributed to the downturn in the club's recent fortunes and wrote last season off for most of the players who then wanted out.
Bayern - Now has to work with a dysfunctional board that sacked a brilliant coach in Nagelsmann mid-season despite the treble still being on the cards, and didn't happen in the end, and won't even back Tuchel now with his targets like Trippier.
I'm not saying Tuchel is a saint, few of our most successful managers have been, but when you have a manager of his quality I feel like you need to make compromises so everyone can work together. It wouldn't be reasonable to force Pep or Klopp into a model they didn't want to work in so why do it with Tuchel? Replacing him with Potter was a massive gamble that didn't pay off and almost a year on, we still sit mid-table with no prospect of top 4 again. I can't see the choice to sack Tuchel as anything other than a terrible, short-sighted decision.
At that time as an inexperienced Board, they decided that Potter was a perfect replacement for Tuchel! Go figure how they decided that :). Clueless people they remain to me. They should only be caring about the numbers and have a vote about only that while the new DOF/SD should put all pieces together aligning with the coach "green light"/vision!
Anyone calling for TT wants to remember all the shit players he signed for us KK ,Sterling ,Cucurella, Auba,....... he has been found out .
Nice article which “scores” with all the points.
Fact Chelsea need an experienced hand as manager.

Cant see the wood for the trees I think.
Nagelsmannm didn’t turn the club down.
The SD found him too demanding

Thanks Scott. So pleased to see there are a few of us on this track and less reactionary
Hi Craige
I’ve always believed Petr Chec read the room and decided to go under his own steam.
A milder version of how Russia ruling elite deal with people they disagree with.
You can either step out the window yourself or.
But it’s 3 floors up
Oops he slipped!

Need Eghbali completely out of ops. This man is a terror.
The reality is that there wasn't even a good enough manager when the Board, in their wisdom, chose to sack Tuchel
Hear hear
Managerial market is very limited at the moment which explains why Madrid extended Ancelotti's contract
