The top 5-7th places in the premiership opened up tonight with Man Utd’s loss and still to face Arsenal & Newcastle so where we end up is down to our results first and foremost and secondly some results going our way for example Newcastle losing one and drawing with Man Utd.
Dear the Score you journalists have obviously got together over too many pints of the brew and decided to be offended over what you perceive Poche has said, is it a guilt complex I wonder.
You did make some good points in the article for which I think helped but Poche isn’t out on the pitch playing he is in the dugout and thinking he is responsible for some of the defensive s…shows we saw in the first half shows a degree of silliness I can’t comprehend.
Even know we are having to play Gilchrist and other academy players as makeweights.
Put simply you train the players to do a job and it’s taken nearly 6 months for it to stick FFS the majority are u21s and there are few experienced players on the field.
Seems like a whole shed load of positives to me and the table since Christmas is particularly relevant, revealing and encouraging. Playing poorly and losing heavily at Arsenal was awful and we all hated it but perspective is important. Arsenal are a super team who may still win the league, we'd suffered a heart-breaker at Wembley a couple of days before, no Palmer, no Tiago, no Gusto & never has our injury
situation been more brutally exposed. Yes we were pants but demanding the manager leave because of it would've been as childish as it is to say he needs to win the last few games. What he was asked to do and what, I believe, he is doing is to improve and develop a raw and desperately inexperienced squad. Changing him before next season would surely be as nuts as anything we have done. What we should be concerned about is the prospect of selling Trevoh and/or Conor and what to do with Enzo.
Not offended whatsoever by Poch’s “fan” comments. Why? Because when I read them it’s clear he is not talking about me, or you, or Si or any other dedicated fan subscribing to this blog. We all know exactly who he is talking about. You choose to take it personally that is 100% on YOU.
Thank you The Score for highlighting and listing the positives. Yes, the Arsenal match was embarrassing and humiliating. The good news is now we have managed to squeeze that in between providing the same effect on both Everton and West Ham. Perhaps we should all look at the Arsenal game as the exception in what has been an excellent second half of the season. Sixth places is now feasible as long as we continue to perform and maintain the growing confidence in the team. Personally, I think some of Poch’s comments have been misconstrued, not help with some of his poor English. Yes, he needs to develop a closer relationship with a supporters, but that does also work both ways and I do think there are some elements within our supporters that have been aggressive towards him from the get go and that must be quite hard to handle however much experience you might have. Let’s be honest we like to be loved. Thanks again for another excellent article.
i have very similar feelings. A good read, thanks.
But let's try something different and persist with a manager. There are imperfections with Poch and multiple self-inflicted wounds, but more imperfections with other aspects of the club, but for Poch's part, there are some green shoots and multiple mitigating factors. Stick, rather than twist.

(cue embarrassing effort vs West Ham...)
