If you are a real Chelsea fan you are positive and united behind our side. Maybe it’s different here in the USA, but we support the clubs we love no matter who the owner, sporting director, coach or players are. If you’re not connected to the club because of where the coach plays a player or how the sporting directors go about their business, or because a player you like was sold, or because you don’t like the formation and think it doesn’t suit our player…you are not a true fan. Sure let’s discuss tactics and players and such over a pint, but at the end of the discussion , we love the club. COYB!
In my experience people get upset at not being listened too.
Im not upset personally with the results but i will be very upset if we get through another season fall short again and the manager gets the blame.
A workman is only as good as the tools he uses. Admit technically some managers have the golden touch "Pep" for example but they dont all have it.
The biggest threat to Chelsea's season is replacing good players with average players to balance the books and not filling the slots in the team needed to balance the team and improve the unit.
Couldn't agree more... Having supported Chelsea since 1959 I rember clearly the days when getting into the top 10 was great. Yes we were spoilt during the Abramivich era and we are now paying the price with embargos and potential relegation or points deducted.... Your article is the Voice of reason. True Chelsea fans will get behind the team and give them the confidence to give their all.
But did Arsenal and Liverpool spend money like mad men on kids 2 years into their respective takeover? To the point they had to sell their hotel to themselves?
Your point regarding things will ALWAYS take time to develop is spot on. But this doesn't excuse the kind of recklessness the SDs and Clearlake are showing.
We’re on a roller coaster and will just have to enjoy the ride till it ends. The heart of a great team is in place and we’ve got to back these youngsters and let them play without our non stop scrutiny and criticism. Play the game well and the results will come. Others were on the upswing when we were on the down - that cycle will reverse - it’s the law of nature. Chelsea will win again - it’s only a matter of time and patience.

The Score, you have hit the nail on my head again. Everybody ignores the fact that the club had been deteriorating on the field for years ahead of the takeover and we had not really been in contention for a league championship for the last five years of Roman‘s ownership. I don’t wanna take that period away from anybody and I certainly don’t wanna give it back but we also have to be savvy enough to understand that we came in effect from nowhere and we are still in a better position today then we were in the Ken Bates era. We were basically bust and going to the wall and needed rescuing!
You are right to highlight the history of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City under new ownership. Not to mention that other clubs have started to improve significantly under their new ownership namely Aston Villa and Newcastle to name two. In the short medium term we are still bigger than both of those clubs and likely to have more success than them. All of this is the biggest team for 25 years, namely Manchester United who have basically been in the doldrums for the last 10 years. All four of these examples support your argument that significant change doesn’t happen overnight and as I have said repeatedly whether we like it or not we have to be patient and get behind everybody at the club to ensure that we act as one as we move on upwards
Some logic to your argument but it's about context isn't it? The owners bought London's blue riband club, the reigning world club champions, champions league winners in 2021. Accepted that we gained our status through Roman's resources but that's our standard now and the owners responsibility as the custodians of the club is to maintain that, that's why they bought the elite investment that is Chelsea. We are not Arsenal who haven't won the league in twenty years, or City who with all due respect will never even be the biggest club in Manchester. You need an elite manager with the full support of the club hierarchy and a talented group of players to achieve success. Look at what Tuchel did within four months of taking over after Frank Lampard. We were in contention for the league the season after as well until Christmas when Reece and Chillwell got in injured and Mendy lost his confidence. Chelsea fans are not going to accept years of mediocrity and 'project building'. Yesterday's defeat was symptomatic of the new Chelsea reality, everyone knew we were going to lose and because we didn't get absolutely hammered that's supposed to be positive. Can you imagine Mourinho, Ancelotti, Conte or Tuchel surrendering that meekly. Not good enough for Chelsea. No amount of project talk or it's going to take Chelsea ten years to contend again can hide that or where the owners have landed Chelsea. The decision to remove Tuchel I think will prove to be Chelsea's high watermark. The fingers can only be pointed in one direction.
This is the well-balanced opinion media, specifically social media has been lacking during the period of new ownership. It is well okay to be disappointed or frustrated, but at the heart of it all is support. The reality of this new project is it is going to take time, just as it did for Liverpool, City and even Arsenal. Let's enjoy the growth on the way back to the top.
Nathan, I could not agree with you more. I’ve got to the point where I’ve been worn down largely by the abuse I get when I show any level of positivity. Some of the rhetoric that Airways is just unbelievable and so shortsighted. I am aligned with you and having been at the game yesterday so plenty to be positive about, but there is still a lot to be done.
I don't know what to say than this is wonderful.

Thanks for the article btw.

Finally some sense!
Well said - totally 100% agree.
