The Attacking Armoury: do we still need to add?

Eze looks to be heading to Arsenal and Xavi Simons to Bayern....Rogers was among the other 2 as my favourite options.

There is one rumour that just wont go away, there are still weekly whispers and murmurs about Morgan Rogers.

Today I am looking at our attack from on overall standpoint and what we need moving forward.

So currently our attack is shaping up like this;

Cole Palmer

Pedro Neto

Estevao Willian

ST:

Liam Delap

Joao Pedro (versatile, LW & 10)

With the impending departures of Nkunku, Madueke, Felix etc, the probable departure of Jackson and the fact that Tyrique George needs to go on loan, we still seem to be short in attacking areas.

I would suggest that we are 2 attackers short if all expected departures occur.

We have strong links with Mohammed Kudus which could intensify, but, the consistent weekly whispers and murmurs around Rogers do make me wonder if we will test Villa’s resolve.

I like both players but feel we only have room for one of them. Kudus is the best dribbler in the league, he is a quite frankly, elite dribbler. Rogers on the other hand is a carrier, he carries the ball well is physical and strong when carrying the ball rather than nimble and quick like Kudus.

In the 24/25 season he accumulated 29 goal involvements in 54 games, playing in a whole host of positions but predominantly playing from the 10 or the LW.

I am going to ignore Mohammed Kudus’ 24/25 season as I think it is a one off and multiple club and individual circumstances lead to a poor on the pitch performance which he cannot allow to happen again, if we look back to his first season at West Ham in 23/24 he had 28 goal involvements in 48 games playing all across the front 4 positions.

It looks clear to me that we need this LW/10 hybrid player, a bit like Joao Pedro, VERSATILE. Then if Jackson goes we should have the flexibility to either sign an out and out no9 or an out and out LW.

It’s clear what we are doing with the recruitment of Gittens & Delap and the interest in Kudus/Rogers, we need more high volume ball carriers across attacking areas.

Realistically I think we will see either a Malick Fofana or Alejandro Garnacho come in if Jackson goes, as well as a Kudus/Rogers type profile, different in style but both are LW/10 (versatile) and tremendous creators, carriers and can score goals.

Now I am interested in what each of you would do, so my hypothetical question to you all is this;

“We need 2 attackers, who do you choose and what profiles do we need?”
