In a game that last year first half ie before December we might have lost, 2nd half would have probably been a 2-1 win we showed how much the team has grown in stature and experience in just 16 months.
The reality is given the score line and no one had a stinker it was difficult to mark down anyone below a 7.
Stand outs for me Jorgenson looked comfortable and it will be a good experience for him.
Cucerella as always 7.5 on sheer effort.
Toisen was comfortable but Disasi isnt up to premiership standard given his current belief in himself appears lacking, however on the night did just enough.
I saw countless players slip over so Enzo can be forgiven for that and Palmer made the team tick so i dont begrudge the nicked tap in.
Madueke looked confident took his opponent on and ran to the backline many times and got some excellent crosses in , 1 goal and an assist MOM throughly deserved. Once the game was won however he took his foot off the gas and that must be sorted out and banished from his game.
Felix was active and i agree should have had a goal, but was out on the left wing and i feel he is more productive in the center.
Nkunku was a bit hit and miss for me but scored and some would argue thats what matters but this was Southampton bottom of the league I'd like to see him get more of a run out against stiffer opposition.
Sancho looked up for it and i was cheering him on hoping for a goal and he delivered, his close control is a joy to watch.
I saved my last comments for Gusto, having seen Caicedo play the position and invert having Gusto back whilst he had a resonable game he didnt set the world alight and he needs to step up a gear imho.
Yeah, pretty fair assessment. Best thing about tonight apart from the resounding victory of course, was that people like Jackson got a rest and will be ready to absolutely terrify the yids on Sunday, especially given van de ven is still out injured. Was so frustrated that we didn't hit double figures during the game, but a 5-1 away win isn't to be sniffed at, even if it was against a team that repeatedly shoot themselves in the foot. The confidence is building game by game, if we can get through the Spurs game, we might be a lot closer to Liverpool by the time we travel to the emptyhad on January 25th...
It was great to hear the fans singing that. The away fans are awesome. Rotate the defence as little as possible in the prem. For the first time in quite a while I expected us to win this game.
Fernandez still weak in defending. Culpable—twice—for the Saints goal: Enzo fell arse over tip and conceded possession, allowing Saints to start their move; then Enzo fluffed a fairly easy tackle that allowed a Saints cross from which they scored.
Having watched Felix for most of his career, I really just think it's a pure concentration issue. When chances are easy, he seems to just sort of go at the ball nonchalantly and tends to mess it up. When he has to think the entire way through the move, he usually finds the finish. It's really frustrating because he makes everything look so simple, except finishing.
If we're not playing Jackson (and not Guiu either) then I would like to try Felix as the 9 and allow Nkunku to play as the 10 behind him. I don't love Felix, but his first-time finishing is one of the best parts of his game. The more touches he has, the less likely he is to score. Would prefer that Nkunku was a bit deeper, getting more of the ball.
Great result and for once I wasn't hiding behind my hands every time the keeper had the ball.
All very fair ratings. We're going to smash Spurs

very interesting to see the rotation going forward
I think Felix’s misses when he should score seriously hold him back. Probably a psychological issue as well.
100% agree on man of the match. Madueke did well enough but he had so much space in h2.

It is frustrating alright.
