Get the knives ready: We have a manager with 20 plus years of experience who has coached at some of the top clubs in the entire world telling us he has a poorly built club, he hasn't gotten what he asked for (as far as player signings) and that the current squad are too immature to win consistently, but that they are building toward something that will take 3-4 years. The players love him, the locker room is together - no dissent. He has gone through an entire season without most of his preferred starting lineup due to injuries - including his two best players (James and Nkunku). All indisputable facts. So, am I understanding this correctly? He MUST sacked because the fans don't like him? Because people who have never managed a professional team don't like his tactics or lineup positional choices? And those same people/tactical experts say we need a new manager but can't seem to identify who would be better? Name any other manager could do better with these same circumstances - you can't because it does not exist. This is clearly going to take time to build regardless of the manager. Poch says it, the players say it. The owners clearly know it and accept it. Now, start throwing those daggers at me! Go! : )
I agree so but like say -off course i am not happy with some the way we've played results and find it hard to identify a decent game which i can count on one hand maybe one game villa away in the cup was what i would say was great on the eye etc but i feel the bone of contention is 2 things a clear identity of how we play and use rotation of players especially midfield and are we seeing development in this and 2nd its about the connection with fans i think Poch needs to make more of effort in this and unifie the team and fans, kloop had his issues in the early days losing a euro cup final but he spun the loss with positive pov about how far Liverpool have come. I don't understand if poch doesn't understand or know how to do this. Also we've sacked managers where do SD stand in this accountability so far the silence is deafening from them are they aligned with Poch considering they hired him
I get it and on some level agree. But this is kind of making my point. What you or I or any other fan thinks of his rotations and pitch tactics is pretty irrelevant, other than making fun talking points. I compare it to myself. I'm 30 years in my industry and have developed an acute expertise in my field. The decisions I make daily, and honestly by the minute, are based on experience on the circumstances that are bestowed on me from myriad sources - my bosses, their bosses, and countless factors that are out of my control. Poch is in the same boat. Injuries and squad build are at the top of his list of circumstances out of his control. I think we saw this in the last press conf after Sheffield. He's doing the best he can with what he has but on a very base level, what he has is flawed and is going to take time. Regardless of rotation and tactics. Regardless of fan relations.
I think we saying the same thing apart the bit about communication i don't think and we know if he is doing the best he can that's a assumption i don't doubt he is trying as you know if you work in any area as a leader external and internal comms are intergral to this succeeding. your bosses the good ones would explain the strategy their expectations goals and I'm sure you would be held responsible if you did not reach them, us fans are integral part Of this so building and communicating with the fan base is integral to atmosphere in the home and aways games and unites the club, i can hazard a guess that the fans aren't aligned with the club because they aren't being communicated to what the plan is I'm saying if poch done a better of this as i said Klopp is excellent at this it would also help get the fans behind him and help him by elevating pressure at the end of the day its results business and there things out of every ones control but every coach has to have contingent plans as i am sure Poch knew what he was walking into.
I'd be content with the decision to let the manager leave this summer however these are all valid points.
So why let the manager go? I don't think he's a cultural fit for the club. As said in the article we thrive under pragmatic managers and 'chaos ball' especially under lights at the Bridge. Sure add in the flair players, but the crowd urges to get up and at em.
I was chatting to a Millwall fan last night and one of the reasons Joe Edwards didn't last was because his style of play was at odds with historically how Millwall play. He lost the crowd fairly early on and if you lose the supporters then you're a dead man walking.
Unfortunately it's not just the manager that has a cultural issue IMO - it's the entire set up. There's no one in decision making capacity that understands the club, the history, the ethos and so on. We need a Chelsea influence in the boardroom - shame Cech left actually in that regard.
No complaints from me have any sort no daggers either. I’m on the same page. I agree with your sentiments and seriously believe that we have to look at the long-term as has been indicated and set out in your response. Nothing other than patience and support for the long-term plan that has been chosen will remove the frustration that is posted on all form of media. There you go I’ve redirected the daggers for you!
Excellent analysis on the choices of footballing philosophy we need to pick and get behind. I imagine as we have gone for "Brighton model" De Zerbi looks the most likely candidate as he knows the SDs and some of our players. I can only hope Barcelona picks him as their next coach.

Well said. And agreed. And I believe it would be different if they were winning consistently.
Winning always masks flaws no matter how big or small. Frankly we made poor investments both after Conte's 2017 title win and Tuchel's 2021 CL win.

Cheers Craige! I'm waiting to get crucified on here - hahah
