Really encouraging article, and refreshing to cut through the doom and gloom. That said, I am starting to fear for the future of the club. We seem to be investing too heavily in other young players and not enough into clear pathways for our academy - many of whom are/will be better than the youngsters we've signed. The fact that we are actively looking to sell Gallagher and Chalobah is ludicrous to me. Based on last season, under no circumstance should you be looking to sell them. Two leaders who love the club and understand what it means to be Chelsea. Fair enough if next season they aren't playing as prominent roles, then by all means sell them, but right now they are.

We've said this time and time again at Chelsea a manager sinks or swims, a new frsh manager coming in will face 10 games into the season the following from the Sporting Direcetors due to an unreasonable set of expectations from the American owners.. (Chelsea must win the Euros' & the world cup) in the same year. (irony deliberate bein that we cant actually win them)

Poche acheived a top 4 performanace with this squad why are we in 16th place after 10 games.

No the new manager may only have 1/2 a season to prove he can make the team be a team and win things because the Sporting Directors will never admit they are part of the disconnection.

Andy the only way to beat the cycle is for us as the fan base to make sure that we give the new manager a full 12 months and don’t start calling for his head the first time we have a bad result. We have to be as one as a group, support the manager, the owners, the sporting directors and everybody else including the players that are revolved in Chelsea Football Club. Anything less than that will create anarchy and will have a negative affect on the club as a whole for a long time going forward.

I’m afraid whilst you’re 100% correct we live in a world where everyone has an opinion which they believe correct.

I can’t understand why when I express my opinion so many people don’t realise instantly that they are wrong.

made me laugh that one, can almost almost hear Egghead saying that

I can't agree with this. They already tried the bright young coach project with Potter and that failed dismally. How long do you think Mckenna or Maresco would last? The owners are arrogant and without accountability to the fans and even worse they are not bothered about the 'customers' or the institution that is or was Chelsea Football Club. They are not custodians, they are venture capitalists looking to make maximum profits at all costs. The sporting directors who appointed Poch after a long and exhaustive process are still there and apparently bullet proof. They should be gone, dismal failures. How many of their signings have been successful? Cole Palmer (Joe Shields), Gusto, maybe Petrovic. The structure is rotten, no decent manager can last in this environment. The last of the real Chelsea identity within the team will disappear when Gallagher & Chalobah are dispensed with. All that will be left then will be the fans and their memories of a once great club.

Once again @The Score thank you for another well-balanced well written article. It calmly sets out the current status and gives some positivity looking forward. Thank you very much for your time and effort and for posting this so much more of what we read through all forms of media is so negative and poorly submitted/written.

This is a brilliant piece, totally changed my perspective. I was feeling upset about the departure, felt that the owners just don't value stability for this young squad. But I really am optimistic now and excited for hopefully a new shot at some real stability. Thanks!

To be honest this season reminded me of man United under ten hag when they finished top 3.

They were never dominating games and it was always end to end - only to be bailed out by individual quality. That's not sustainable as shown with them this season.

We were never in control in majority of matches, was always end to end even with the last game of the season.

I think it's the right choice - the only issue is I don't trust them to get the right man in charge because they shouldn't have hired Poch in the first place

After yesterday, I’ve lost complete respect for the clowns running the club who are utterly clueless!

They went about last summer’s recruitment and signings poorly; overspent and prioritised abysmally on what was required and then have the gall to think Pochettino should be sacked after clearing up their mess and not being given the right to not only have a say in transfers but to reasonably request two of our best players remaining with one having their contract renewed?

Is that not a good trade off? This after spunking £30m + £21m add ons on some 17 year old so called teenage sensation nowhere near ready for top level football who might be another Mydryk when that money would be better used elsewhere where we really need it? How else is anyone going to feel but angry with the club?

I would be far happier if Clownlake sold up tomorrow and f*cked off somewhere else.

They are yanks who will never understand football or the culture of our club.. Who only have experience of managing a baseball club. They don’t want a manager; they want a coach who is a licking fool that is a yes man.

We now go back to square one instead of building on stability. The players will be really upset with this decision by the owners. Many of them may now question what they are doing here. There’s no project. That’s just BS. Also Poch had intimate knowledge of these young boys in how they act, their every strength and weakness, how to bring out the best of them, and make them bond and gell. It will take ages for a new manager to get to understand them, know what makes them tick, how to talk to them....that’s if he is a good man manager....he might not be. And for all we know he might drop Jackson, Gallagher, Caicedo and pick other players, He might decide he might not like them. He might be egoistic...who knows!!

The whole thing is absolutely laughable with this turgid ownership and their sheep Sporting directors who nod their heads pretending to know what they are doing! Too many voices and none of them have a clue!!

TheScore, thanks for opinion. I respect ypur thought on the coach topic, however I think you got this totally wrong. I also cannot share postivity with the Poch sacking.

- first and foremost, why did you hire and then sacked Poch when you already got this wrong with Potter Lampard? Prior Poch hiring it was written so much how the SDs did so much digging about the next coach!!!

- players aren't happy with Poch going

- fans aren't happy or feeling positive about poch going or being excited about the new "dynamic" and "contemporary" coach that flows in all the media. This is all bullshit wrapped in words.

- the fact owners make so many changes with staff, coaches, players, etc keeps the team below the level owners aim. Don't expect all those 6-7-8y contract players buy all ideas owners make all the time. Jackson obviously was super annoyed. Players didn't fight for the club but for Poch (remember my word) because they the young players don't know what loyalty is (old generation player that were loyal are long gone).

- if you think Clearlake are the smartest in the room then why other clubs with same or lower budget are performing better? Maybe because of not skipping football basics - consistency, experience, mentality, not making too many changes, avoiding discontent among players and coaching and staff. Look around in Bayern, Real Madrid, City, Dortmund, Leipzig, Porto, etc.

- now onto the next coach. You want someone who can only listen and has no power of saying his opinion. If you're looking to adopt a dog from the shelter, so there is someone who can only follow orders then you're at the wrong place in the wrong time and in the wrong sport!

I probably have more arguments just for one reply but wanted to show my concern. Our club really do 2 steps ahead and then 2-3 backwards!

I appreciate your optimism and I hope you're right. Sadly my gut says we'll be less than ten games into the next season when you drop a new article completely contradicting everything you've said here lol.

It feels like a big risk to me. Not saying he should have stayed permanently, but 12 more months just made sense. Can only hope it's a calculated one and they make the right choice, quickly.
