Would be happy with either. They both have their pros and their cons. Toney is proven in the prem and will seemingly cost a bit less both in wage and fee but Osimhen has the ceiling to become one of the top strikers in the world as we have seen over the last few years. Always my worry with Chelsea and strikers that it won’t work for some reason or another but we need a new presence up top
For me Oshimen every day of the week but I suspect we will end up with Toney who is after all a very good back up penalty taker.
The rate of goals scored by Oshimen is far superior to Toney although they have both been penalty takers for their club.
Nicholas Jackson scored 14 goals last season from open play and made 5 assists with a month away for the africas cup. So in contrast that’s about what you can expect from both strikers mentioned if penalties are removed.
The question is can we sign a striker that will bury the chances we have been failing to take?
I would be content with either but my preference is Toney, simply because he's Premier League proven, his link up play is better than Osimhen's, he can take set pieces if need be, he can fit in our wage structure easier, from Brentford to Chelsea would be an easy move for him as he wouldn't need to adapt much and you know what you're gonna get.
Happy with either. At the prices we're seeing, I'm still leaning towards Osimhen - he just feels like a Chelsea striker, and my gut says he'd bring a fear factor back to our frontline that we've missed since Costa.
Saying that, I'm a big fan of Toney too. His goalscoring record might not be fantastic, but we saw for England that he can make a difference just by getting stuck in. With the players we have around him, definitely think his numbers would go up.
Just crossing my fingers we get one over the line!
Definitely Toney Mainly because he has premier league experience and wouldn’t be a risk like so many other players that we have had in previous seasons?
Few reasons, but to be totally honest, the main reason is because I’ve watched him. I watch the premier league; I don’t watch Serie A. So can’t give as much opinion on Osimhen. I thought that he is poor at international level, which doesn’t bode well.
I also think that Toney will step up his stats when playing in a high attacking “top” team. Whereas Osimhen’s numbers are based on being in that top team.
But most of all, it seems that the club is starting to get the ship in order and I fear that blowing £300K a week on Osimhen could rock the boat a bit too much. And he would be harder to get rid of if it does fail, Lukaku style.
I guess I’m standing on the fence because I’m happy with both for different reasons.
Osimhen is a willing runner and stretches the defense, can finish in the air or with the ball at his feet, and has a tenacious attitude on the pitch which for me cannot be understated.
Toney can link play and has done it well playing in a two striker system, knows England and the Premier League, decent on set pieces, and he’s started from the lower leagues which I rate.
I think very generally, their deficiencies are opposite each other. I can see Osimhen crashing the box and getting of the end of some crosses that Toney wouldn’t. And I can see Toney dropping in to link play and arrive late for a well placed cut back that Osimhen wouldn’t.
Different games, but I personally think Chelsea are better off with either one.
I'd prefer Viktor Osimhen, Luke. If not possible then Toney would be an excellent addition to!!

Toney. Statistically high fee players don’t work out very often and it would blow the wage structure with Osimhen.

If so which is it.

Hi Luke,
I'd be happy with either, and they have been my top choices for months.
Toney would give us, a real physical presence up top. Link play and I think would score a lot of goals for us.
Oshimen would allow us to press high up, we could stretch defences, by playing the ball in behind.
Both have so many attributes, to kick us on to another level.
For me, signing one of these two guarantees us Top 6.
Then we can kick on and have a real go at getting Top 4.
I’d prefer Toney.
