Dont think we should be buying Olise with his injury record. Any players we get going forward should have the ability to play most games without persistent niggles.
Also would like us to consider someone like Awonoyi for the CF position. Adds a new dimension to our attack with physicality and hold up play without being a replacement for jackson as they offer different strengths
Is jamal musiala nothing more than a pipe dream at this point?
Do we know why Nagglesman didn’t get the job last spring? I remember something about him wanting to bring along an SD of his choice? Would be excited to bring him in but curious as to why it all went so sour with him after he was the early favorite to replace potter.
We should be careful with buying players moving forward. We still need to build the right structure up at the top and go from there. We shouldn't be spending big and buy many players every summer. Just my two cents. Absolutely respect Luke's vision too but I'd be concerned with buying more than 3 players this summer. I'd still rely on Ben Chilwell for another year, buy the long-waited striker and bring new CB or a winger depending how sales go (leaning towards new winger if we offload Sterling or Madueke).
What makes you so confident? As Pimlico Tiger has suggested below this would be adding £60m a year to our cost base. We're already having to sell players to keep up with our current costs. Plus 300m probably comes with 30m of transaction/agent costs.
Appreciate none of us know the financial position just wondering what makes you so confident
Its not confidence and like i say “could” is the plausible word to use.
Me and Pimlico have discussed previously that we are all (journalists included) to an extent just using guess work with figures as nobody really knows our true finances.
We have another huge summer of player sales ahead as well as the biggest commercial deals in our history are being touted for this summer with some huge revenue due to come in from those. I could be completely wrong but if you read my article from last week (linked in this article) our player sales could be through the roof again this summer.
Apologies I read 'could easily' as you were confident it could happen.
We certainly do have a massive amount of players to sell this summer! Going to boil a lot of rival p*ss when this keeps us the right side of financial fair play 😂
This is "the* question, isn't it? Assuming Luke's purchases are made, they would probably look to amortise over five years, so the annual cost would be £60m. That's added to the pile of amortised costs from the ~£650m spending spree to date. Time will tell how iffy our books are compared to PSR. I'm quite pessimistic about it, though (like everyone else) I don't know that yet. I guess the concern is the calculation seems to be CL football means we're ok, otherwise we have to sell homegrown players to bridge the gap - so if the time to make it back to the CL is longer than we are planning then we'll eventually run out of Neil Bath's handiwork to sell.
Definitely want a keeper, a world class one of possible, maybe Emi Martinez as he is off an age where he doesnt block pathway for Slonina or Petrovic, I’m a fan of Petrovic but right now he isnt good enough to elevate us to top 4 for me

Love your incoming options Luke!
Enjoyed this. Couple questions

Incredibly unrealistic but an absolute dream mate

Do you think we'd have £300m to spend? Seems unlikely given current financial position.
Also would Hernandez, Olise and Williams not get a UCL move? Not convinced they'd move to a team out of UCL when they'd have a number of options.
We could easily have 300m to spend this summer

Any thoughts on a keeper coming in, Luke, or do you feel that Petrovic is good enough to be our number 1 next season?
Also, what about Flick as our manager? Proven winner of big trophies; has managed big players at a huge club; has a track record of promoting youth
Big fan of Martinez
