Loan Army roundup, Toney to Chelsea, Exclusive Ben Jacobs column, No longer prepared to hear 'we deserved' to win, What's going wrong/what's gone wrong? News roundups, and more....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Tuesday 26th September 2023!
Morning all,
How we all feeling now after having an extra day to calm down? We don’t have long to reflect on this one though as we have a midweek League Cup game versus Brighton coming tomorrow night! Yikes. I’ll have a preview and my pre-match thoughts on that out later today but confidence levels have gone from like 10% to 0% for me right now.
I took yesterday to reflect even more after the Aston Villa defeat and I have a couple of articles on the back of that. The first one is the match debrief article where I go through each player and give them a rating, as well as offer my overall thoughts on the game and the situation. You can find that here. But basically, I don’t want to hear that we ‘deserved to win’ after a draw or defeat anymore whilst we are sat in 14th position in the league at least.
The next one is dissecting what I believe is the three main reasons as to why we have just gone six games this season so far only picking up five points. That is not good enough, there are just no excuses anymore. Things need to get better. In this here as well, I offer reasons why it’s gone wrong and reasons why it WENT wrong. So some mistakes were made that can’t be fixed yet, other mistakes can be fixed right away on the pitch and in the lineups.
Luckily I had two of our staff legends here on the site to help me with some content for this newsletter so you can read a different voice and also, take your mind off the first team!
First of all, Ben Jacobs had his level-head on with his latest exclusive and extensive Chelsea column for us here. This covers a lot including Toney to Chelsea latest - player keen to stay in London, Industry insiders thoughts on Chelsea's business, Pochettino's Eghbali talks and owners stance on him, Poch's high value on leadership, and MUCH more…..
Then we had Luke Rushbrook’s weekly loan army review article here where he takes a look at all of our loan players and rounds up their latest performances and checks in with how they are getting on. Really enjoying these articles I must say, despite being biased!
Finally, rounding up all the latest Chelsea news, transfer news, quotes, and more reactions from the Villa game here in the latest live blog. Worth reading through the comments in this as well, it was pretty lively yesterday with some passionate and emotional views being offered.
Right, join me on the live blog from 8am people!
Peace, Si.
