He's been poor since he joined Atletico and he did not impress me on that stint either. He will suit us even less now. He's not a winger and going by the lack of effort he's put in for Madrid, he's bang average as a no 10/CAM as well. He has moments that are too far and few between and it makes no business sense since we are loaded with players there who are better and more consistent than him.

He is one of those gifted players who can glide through opposition players but as mentioned above, it happens so far and few between. He has that X factor, but has done f*ck all with it for a long time. He's no more consistent than Sterling and this is a big fat no for me. More important is concentrating on a proven striker. I'm not bothered if Gallagher's deal falls through and he has to come back. Fine, f*ck em! Tired of shysters trying to con or bully us into buying a player we don't need just because they need it for Alvarez and Gallagher deals to go through!

Marmite as you said, and as you can read from the comments to precede my own. I totally understand the attraction of the player to you and I think most of us felt the same at the time he came to the club initially. He had the X factor, even with the poor form they were times that he did things on the pitch that nobody else was able to do. He certainly has attacking flare and vision. No one can argue that.

Isn’t the problem Luke that we have moved on. We have more attacking flare now than we had at the time, more than we actually need! With Nkunku, Palmer plus now Neto supported by a combination of Stirling, Mydrych and Noni it’s hard to believe that he would even be on our radar if it wasn’t for the cock up with the transaction with Connor Gallagher. I agree and accept your comments that CG was gone 18 months ago and that Drewsbury Hall has nothing to do with the arguments below.

As much as I understand that you like him Luke and I certainly was excited when he first came and could still see the appeal. I just really wonder whether we need him now and whether we should just back out of the deal one way or the other and start a fresh. With Neto captured and therefore having the white player that we were seeking now the number nine is key and we all know who that should be with Lukaku game the other way. As always, thank you for your insight and your view is definitely thought-provoking.

As much as I agree with what he can bring to the team, I think it will just continue to cause squad issues. We already brought in Neto for 60m, so are we just adding another expensive player for squad depth when there are clearly FFP concerns. Just look at how many players we have for the midfield positions.

Theoretically, I understand we’d offload some players. But that’s proving to be difficult. Not just the Connor situation, but also Trev, Broja, don’t get me started about how Lukaku is still with the team. Add to that players like Sterling who is on massive wages and doesn’t want to leave London, we are going to get back to the really bloated squad that Potter dealt with.

On top of this, striker should continue to be our #1 priority. So any big $ should go there and all other buying should be put on hold until that situation is figured out

Ignoring the fact he doesn't fit in the team and we've literally just spent £60m on Pedro Neto, and ignoring the fact that we need a physical striker, I cannot recall seeing a player who flattered to deceive so much, and who is so patently unsuited to the demands of a pressing PL team.

It would be a monumentally poor decision, driven solely by the desire to sell a player who they have already spent £30m on replacing with an inferior player.

It is gross negligence on an industrial sale. We would be better off financially and on the pitch by keeping Conor, not signing Dewsbury-Hall or Felix.

Ignoring that we need a physical Striker??? I literally included Osimhen😂😂

Dewsbury-Hall was signed like 6 weeks ago, that ahs absolutely 0 to do with this transfer. They are not signing Felix to replace Gallagher.

They are signing Felix because they have to take someone from Atletico because without that they cannot sell Gallagher, who they need to sell because they signed Dewsbury-Hall.

No Dewsbury-Hall, no need to sell Gallagher, no need to get lumped with Felix. It's all interlinked.

Gallagher would have gone regardless, the KDH agenda is a good argument but regardless of his signing Gallagher was going......

Felix will bring 5/7goals and 5/7 assist at the most to the table. No matter whow you look or read him he is just the next avarage player we need to hire. Just unbelievable.

Completely ignoring the defensive issues, fantastic 😂. He’s an utter passenger without the ball and doesnt fit in a squad with Nkunku or Palmer as AM options.

Massively overrated and we should steer well clear.

Felix is absolutely useless when we don’t have the ball. Sterling Madueke track back far better. Lavia and Enzo don’t have the power Caicedo has. All sizzle and no steak that team.

If we can get him in return for the Gallgher fee.

Then yes, a total no brainer if not.

Then stay well away.

We have loads of games this season, so he would be a great addition, IF.. the price is right.

While Felix wasn’t as productive in goals/assists as I had hoped for his first stint at Chelsea, he definitely had that X factor in which he created matchup issues and seemed like he could make something happen. His movement off the ball was far better than the other players in Potters squad. If we can land him for the price of what we get for Gallagher or close it needs to happen… and will we have so much attacking talent that players are unhappy with selections..sure , so then they have to play their way into the starting lineup. True competition for every spot in the lineup has been missing since Uncle Carlo was here.

Personally, he didn't impress me in his stint with us. But it seems that the club have told atletico that they're a big fan of Felix, but only at the right price.

However, Maresca does like "true" wingers who are high up the pitch and hug the touchline. I love where you have put Gusto/James in this formation (to me, they're mediocre centre midfielders) but in my opinion, Felix isn't a left winger in the truest sense of the role.

My final point - everyone loves putting up Maresca’s when we're attacking. How about when we haven't got the ball? We can't defend and we're struggling to keep clean sheets. Defences win titles, after all 🤷‍♂️

I don't think the defensive issues in preseason were down an inability to defend at all. A lot of the issues were attack, midfield, and defense not all being on the same page.

A lot of the preseason goals were either individual mistakes or one unit thinking another unit was going to be doing something different than they actually were.

Real was a great example of that because every time we got burned by a ball over the top, it was because the defensive line pushed up because they thought midfield and attack were pressing, but they weren't. Then when the defense was left outnumbered, it was because the midfield and attack went to press and the defensive line dropped off. The coordination levels just take time to develop.

I was at the game sunday and we were a lot better defensively than I have seen in all 5 prior pre season fixtures, it needs time and will continue to need time.
