Chelsea transfer silence, Outgoings update, Armando Broja new deal, £50m in player sales as Guehi departs, Haaland alternative time?
All packed into our latest Chelsea FC Newsletter
Hey everyone, back again with another jam packed newsletter this week as Chelsea played their first game of the new season on Saturday.
We beat Peterborough 6-1 in a behind closed doors friendly, with Hakim Ziyech grabbing a hat-trick.
Thomas Tuchel pretty much used all his players in his group over the 90 minutes and it was a great little run out for the team ahead of another season.
Young striker Armando Broja also got on the scoresheet to celebrate getting a new long-term contract at the club, and as a celebration I’ve penned some thoughts on him, whether he is impressing Tuchel so far in pre-season, and what needs to happen with him now for his development, you can read that here.
Broja could actually still stay in the squad this season, depending on what happens with the Erling Haaland and new striker situation. And on that subject, are Chelsea actually contemplating turning to a Haaland alternative? Find out here with my latest on that.
Another player who’s immediate future is currently being discussed is Conor Gallagher. No decisions have been made on him as of yet, but his reps have been in some talks and he features in my outgoings update, here.
Another young player from Chelsea’s academy, Marc Guehi, joined Crystal Palace on a permanent transfer over the weekend in a deal that is expected to be at worth £18m at least.
Whether you agree with it or not, it has bought our player sales close to the £50m mark already this summer, so I’ve penned my thoughts on why that should click us in to gear to start making some of our transfer pursuits serious with an official bid or two now. Check that out here.
Finally, we put Dan to work again as he’s been slacking off as usual. He penned some very wise words (I know, I was shocked!) on the transfer window and Chelsea’s current activity, or lack of activity more like, and why we don’t need to be worried yet!
Make Dan’s day and give that a little read here!
Cheers guys, hope everyone is doing well and if you’re in the UK, enjoying this unreal heatwave, which isn’t ideal with a hot laptop on your legs!!
Speak next week!
