Morning. Bad Blue Boys, indeed…
What an utterly painful experience watching Chelsea attempt to play football yet again last night. Honestly terrible. So much to say and reflect, and so many issues. It’s not good at all. You can catch my watch-along match report here, and I'll do more reactions articles today.
These newsletters are still jam-packed with info, news, and transfer news despite the window closing last week. There’s SO many exciting things going on at our club right now and lots of information gathering and reporting to do, despite the hugely concerning performances on the pitch right now.
I ran a live blog yesterday again and will continue to do so as much as I can, as I feel that many of you enjoy these and they are a great way of covering all the news and making sure that you do not miss a thing! Check out yesterday’s here.
As I said above, loads going on still at the club and mainly right now we are looking to tie up a number of new contracts after announcing Reece James’s new deal in the week. I have an exclusive on that relating to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic, and others here.
Speaking of Reece James, I am adamant now that he should become the club’s next official captain as soon as possible, and I’ve got some words on why I think that here.
Chelsea are working on revamping the midfield as a next point of priority, after we addressed the defence in the summer. The club are unlikely to wait until next summer to do this with a number of contract situations bubbling up currently. Get all the latest on that, including a few potential targets named other than just Edson Alvarez here.
That’s all for now!
Peace, Si.
I’m interested to know your thoughts on Koulibaly, how’s he been so awful? Fofana stepped up in the second half, aggressive in tackling and driving forward. Isn’t Koulibaly better as a CCB? What’s the point of playing a back 3 when we’re still vulnerable defensively? How does Azpi still get on the pitch? Why are Kovacic & Mount starting as a pivot? Shouldn’t Broja have started over Aubameyang? Why is Ziyech still at Chelsea?
So many questions, one month in and zero answers. I’m sorry but I can’t see this going on for much longer. No identity, no fight, no threat, just going through the motions, we all know how this ends. Another year with Azpi and Jorginho as Captain & Vice Captain and another shambles.
I think the TV commentators got it right for once .. lots of possession no urgency it’s what I’ve been banging on about for weeks.. we never get out of Reverse and 1st gear. Where is the cut and thrust. By the time we attack we face a wall of defenders.
