There were some 50/50 calls on the likes of Gallagher, Madueke, Broja as squad players and in a 'realisitc world' we wont be able to overhaul the way I have been so ruthless in this article, BUT the proof is in the pudding, we need some more experienced players with good leadership qualities, adding one or two world class players in would elevate the squad massively.
For my squad above I would add;
A world class GK, rotate Petrovic in for cup matches
A competitive Left-Back
A low cost mid to late 20s PL exp CB
An experienced midfielder who can be competition but also players will look up to
A world class striker
2 x wingers with direct qualities and strong goal involvement records.
This OBVIOUSLY cannot happen in one window but these are things that would be needed for the squad I have above.
It's wild we still need so many positions sorted. I'd just run with Petrovic i think he is / will be good enough. otherwise i agree with everything you said
I only kept around 1/3rd of the options, everyone is different.
Personally, a lot of the squad aren't at the right level for where we want to be, they are of a level of where we sit currently, to change that we need to get rid of some, bring in some experience and some leadership and that will elevate the rest.
There's a lot of potential in the squad so it's going to be interesting if they make the right call on sell or loan. But as Jonathan said they are there to make a profit, a physical profit by selling or a worth/value profit by winning and becoming more successful.
Some of the results in the poll were obvious others a bit strange so lets just say I'm in favour with strengthening one position at a time at a window, I'm not sure we can do anything else unless a fantastic free comes up.
Prediction - they will SELL just about anyone they can profit or break even on -
So in Class 1 - players they can make profit on they will sell the usual suspects - Gallagher, Maatsen, Broja and Chalobah. Unfortunately they will also sell Colwill and Palmer.
So in Class 2 (break-even or v small profit/loss) - players like Vale, Hutchison, Humphries etc - you get the picture. Also Casedai, Santos and Fofana.
Class 3 - They will want to sell but be stuck with the likes of Sterling, Kepa and Malang Sarr. No one is paying their wages.
Stoll flats will be converted into luxury residential flats and sold on at profit.
I have learned one thing about this ownership. Never underestimate their ability to f*ck things up... If they can mess up, they will!
Palmer is I agree not pure profit (and I didn't say he was!) - the point is that he is someone they could book a profit on (and there are precious few of those)! I guess his amortized value is around £35 million. If they could get £60 million for him that is a £25 million profit. I am praying they don't sell him (!) but nothing is beyond this Board/ownership.
Well my turnout is damning and i see myself as quite level headed when it comes to this stuff
in no particular order i'd be keeping....
Keep all GKs
RB - James Gusto (Disasi)
CB - Disasi Badiashile Chalobah Colwill Fofana
LB - Chilwell
DM - Lavia
CM - Enzo Caicedo
AM - Chukwuemeka Nkunku Palmer
RW - Madueke
LW - Mudryk
ST - Jackson
So, we have spent £1b and still need (in my quick view based on the names here)
Definitiely:
LB - DM - RW - LW - ST
Maybe (injuries dependant)
DM - CM - CB
My squad ended up being;
GK - Petrovic, Bettinelli
DEF - Badiashile, Chilwell, James, Colwill, Gusto, Fofana & Humphreys
MID - Enzo, Chukwuemeka, Caicedo, Lavia, Santos
FWD - Jackson, Nkunku, Palmer

That was fun Luke, i'm not far off where you are, maybe some more in a 50/50. A lot will also depend if they ever come back from injury!
Now do one for the owners, SD, etc even more fun
Thanks Luke. The outcomes would be interesting.
Core group of 8/9 players are KEEP for almost 90-95 percent.
The problem is that we all moan about the squad but still want to keep the majority of them.
I only kept around 1/3rd of the options, everyone is different.

Keeping 17 of the squad. Still a lot of good players here; just a more capable manager would get so much more out of them.
Buy a striker, an experienced centre back, a left back and a winger in the summer

Palmer is far from pure profit.
