Who is Chelsea target Matthew Bondswell?
Chelsea are interested in signing the RB Leipzig left back
Chelsea are interested in signing RB Leipzig left back Matthew Bondswell, according to The Daily Telegraph.
The 18-year old has growing admirers from around the world of football, and Chelsea and West Ham are two of them.
But who is Matthew Bondswell?
The England under-18 international is currently on loan in Holland with FC Dordrecht, but he is an RB Leipzig player.
The German side picked Bondswell up from the Nottingham Forest youth academy in 2018 after scouting him for some time, as many German clubs have been doing recently over in England.
Bondswell has been a mainstay in the England youth sides coming up through, and he has been catching the eye of more and more clubs as the years go on.
Chelsea believe the youngster would be tempted for a return to his homeland and are looking to bring the talented full back to Stamford Bridge to join their youth setup.
He would most certainly join Chelsea’s loan army if he did make the move to London, he has a little way to go to be Premier League ready.
But many inside the game believe he has what it takes to be a regular for a Premier League side and make it on the international scene as well.
He is a quick and strong player with the perfect modern day full back traits.
Chelsea of course have Ben Chilwell, Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, and Ian Maatsen as their main left backs at the moment.
But Alonso and Emerson are both likely to leave the club very soon, even as soon as January, and Maatsen is currently out on loan with Charlton.
So there could be a small chance that Bondswell comes in to backup Chilwell in January, although that scenario is quite unlikely right now.
There is no doubt that he is a real talent for the future and a name that is starting to get recognised a lot more across the world of football.
