Who could Chelsea to be targeting from Aston Villa's academy?
Chelsea are reportedly going after Jhon Duran or a Villa academy player after Maatsen talks
Fabrizio Romano last night suggested that the player that will be coming back from Aston Villa in the Ian Maatsen deal (separate deals not a swap) could be Jhon Duran or an academy player.
Here are a couple of potential options and what each player is like, as we see some more concrete names linked I will do a bit more research and make a report if it happens.
Kadan Young (Winger) 18-years-old
From all reports that I have read on the player and reading various Aston Villa chat rooms, Young has a mature build and loves to take people on utilizing his physicality and speed to get past defenders.
His versatility is another big factor, he can pop up on both flanks and even centrally. Also good enough with both feet to play on either side.
A couple of clips I found on the player below:
Nice assist here..
Great run against Cucurella in a friendly two seasons ago..
Omari Kellyman (ST) 18-years-old
Lots of information and reports on Kellyman. From all reports, he enjoys having the ball at his feet and excels in running with power and directness. His athleticism and quick footwork enable him to bypass defenders and advance towards the opposition box, where he can either shoot or pass the ball wide and move into the box. Under pressure, he uses his intelligence to shield the ball, quickly turning his man with a burst of speed or finding a teammate with a pass before moving into space to receive the ball again. Generally, his decision-making is smart, with good ball retention and intelligent passing. However, he occasionally makes rash decisions to shoot from distance even when the team is in a promising attacking position. Despite his athletic build and quickness, he is also an aerial threat, having scored several goals with his head for Northern Ireland U17s.
Here is a little comp of him I found.
Jamaldeen Jimoh (Attacking Midfielder) 17-years-old
Not too much out there on the prospect. He is one of the higher rated prospects in Villa’s system. Funnily enough, he is long admired by Chelsea since his days at West Brom. He scored 7 goals in 14 matches between Aston Villa’s U21 and U18 teams last season.
Nice goal and run here really physical…
Triston Rowe (RB/CB) 17-years-old
Triston Rowe is another name that Chelsea have looked at in the past as he has been a mainstay in his age-group for international play. Rowe played and started 19 matches for Aston Villa’s U21 in PL2. He is right footed and has played all across the backline.
Can’t find any clips on him at this point will circle back on it if he becomes a big target.
Interesting to see, it appears that Omari Kellyman is the most highly touted prospect with Kadan Young slightly behind. I am no academy expert, but I think if it were either of those two it could be an exciting player to put into our ranks.
More content coming slowly here on the Substack and my YouTube channel. Slight delay because I had a full Pedro Lima report written, until Wolves snuck in and stole one from us. What a waste of time!
