Villa beat Chelsea with two IMPACT winter signings, No Maresca, we didn't deserve to win, So bad we don't even feel it anymore, Players vs Villa - some positives, News roundups, Much more....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Monday 24th February 2025!
Morning all,
As always, I hope you had a nice weekend away from Chelsea trying to ruin it for us.
I don’t actually feel it anymore. I can switch it off completely, I’m numb to defeats, it’s just become normal these days. I’ve accepted that until things change, if they ever even do, and the model is tweaked, then we are in this for the long haul. My disconnect has never been larger. I’ve said many times that if this wasn’t my living now I don’t even know if I’d be writing about it all much anymore, I’d certainly not be on X. That’s how numb I feel to it all these days. I rarely even celebrate goals even more but that’s probably slightly more due to VAR rather than the fact that I don’t have any confidence in us winning even if we score first, ESPECIALLY if we score first actually!
The Score feels a lot the same, and it was a post of mine on X after our defeat to Aston Villa that inspired him to write his latest for us that you can find in full here. Another great and passionate article that I am sure will resonate with many of you too.
I’ve got three reaction articles now from the Villa defeat.
The first one here is on the fact that it was two impact and experienced signings that won Aston Villa the game. They spent January making signings of quality players for the here and now who can help them push for UCL football, whilst we spent it loaning players out that we spent a pretty penny on six months prior, and signing an unproven teen who will warm the bench for the rest of the season. Sigh. BLOODY SIGH.
The next one is focusing on some post-match comments by Enzo Maresca claiming that we deserved to win the game and ‘the boys gave everything’. My god, did he really say this? Graham Potter 2.0. Read the room lad, nobody is buying that delusion, and I explain why in here. We played well and deserved to win for around 20 mins, the rest of the game only looked like Villa winning it, and oh look, they did win it.
There was some positives from the defeat, and I think I needed to draw on those for my own well-being more than anything else! So I’ve highlighted a few players who can hold their heads up after the Villa game in here.
And as always, I’ve rounded up all your latest general Chelsea news in the same place from across the last 24 hours in here. Some polls in this if you can jump on for me please, regarding the protests this week.
See you on the next live blog from around 8.30am on the home page!
Peace, Si.
I feel exactly the same and I have no expectations for a victory in the game on Tuesday.
Stop crying for gosh sakes. With poor SD’s, no viable additions in January, mounting injuries, poor performances and substitutions, team chemistry problems, mounting top 4 pressure, lack of creativity, neglecting our Academy stars and going on the pitch expecting defeat is very draining on everyone. If we don’t get into the top 4 it’s on ownership. Signing and selling players isn’t the way to build a team or instill confidence in players, managers, fans in the stands or fans like us sitting by our televisions or tablets. But always crying isn’t the answer either. Sometimes we need to disconnect for awhile. Remember it’s on ownership which we have no control over no matter what various pundits are saying.
