Chelsea are a shambles from top to bottom right now and as I’ve said before, the blame cannot be pointed in just one direction. ‘Shambles from top to bottom’ is a quote given to me from a source close inside the club right now as well.
The previous owners, the current owners, the players, and the managers are ALL responsible in one way or another, and the problems we are witnessing right now come from deep roots and terrible collective decision making.
We can start with the managers, because none of Frank Lampard, Graham Potter, or Thomas Tuchel have been perfect. Lampard I am just running out of words with right now and hate how much he has disappointed me with his team selections. Potter was the same, he also relied on the ‘experienced’ players. Tuchel was a great tactician and of course, won us the Champions League. But he came with problems and just didn’t want to communicate with the board. He also fell out with some players. But above all with Tuchel, he was partly responsible for the bad summer transfer window. Todd Boehly and co went to him to ask what players he wanted, and we know for a fact (because Tuchel is on record saying so) that he asked for Raheem Sterling and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, and he also OK’d the moves for Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly, and said he wanted to keep Cesar Azpilicueta. Of course, it should never have been Tuchel’s job to select transfer targets, and that bit is fully on the owners. But do you see the point I am making? The blame must always be collective.
