Timo Werner says Chelsea are going all out for top spot in Champions League Group
The Blues face Rennes on Tuesday and are gunning for victory
The latest international break already appears as a distance memory. The daily worry of injury concerns and having to wait ages to see our beloved Blues back in action again have firmly faded until well into the new year.
Chelsea are now in the middle of two games in just three days as we saw the return of the Premier League on Saturday, and the Champions League on Tuesday night.
We picked up some more vital momentum against Newcastle United on Saturday beating them 2-0, and it is important that we keep that going this week against Rennes in the Champions League Group stages.
Chelsea have a really good chance of winning the group, they are joint top with Sevilla on 7 points, and they have a good opportunity to pull away if results go their way.
Blues striker Timo Werner believes they simply must go all out to top the group and win every match left, and this is the type of mentality we love to hear right before another important game.
The German international said over the weekend "We want to win [in Rennes] with a good performance, and then we want to battle it out with Sevilla for first place in the group."
Werner has showed some really good signs since arriving at Chelsea and his pace is a real weapon for Frank Lampard’s side. You do get a sense he is still settling in a little and is a time bomb ready to explode.
He looked a little tired on Saturday in some moments and missed a couple of easy chances to score, after another busy international break for him.
Whether he gets the nod from the start again or not remains to be seen, but he may well be given a rest by Lampard in favour of Callum Hudson-Odoi. He certainly has some big decisions to make and they will go all out for the win.
