Thomas Tuchel moving his family to London after triggering contract extension
By winning the Champions League, Tuchel triggers his own Chelsea contract extension
Above, you will see one of the most beautiful images from our night celebrating winning the Champions League final in Porto on Saturday, and there were many.
But this one of Tuchel being a Dad first, explaining exactly what this moment means for him, for his family, for Chelsea, and for the fans, is simply pure beauty and heart warming.
The boss knew then, that this was the start of something amazing, the start of a new chapter, and a new project for him, and for Chelsea Football Club.
The major difference between winning the Champions League final in 2012 to winning it now in 2021, is this project has a group of young players and it is only just getting started, 2012 felt like the end of an era with some players reaching the latter stages of their playing and Chelsea careers.
Tuchel will lead this new project, and he knew by this point that he had just triggered the contract extension for an extra year on his Chelsea deal giving him much more stability and longevity going forward at the club.
Chelsea had inserted a clause in his contract that would automatically be triggered should Tuchel deliver the club the Champions League trophy, and of course, he did.
According to a report from The Athletic, Tuchel is now planning to buy a house in London and move his beautiful young family over the the UK capital and set himself up here for some time.
This is only good news for us Chelsea fans, as Tuchel sets up to lead this squad into the future, and hopefully even more success over the coming years.
