The Debrief: Chelsea 2 Blackburn 0, Cesare Casadei player performance review, Is the midfield still unbalanced? What the current squad needs to be title challengers, Full news roundups, more..
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday November 2nd 2023!
Morning all,
Chelsea beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 in The Carabao Cup last night to reach the quarter finals!
It was hardly vintage Chelsea, but it was neat, tidy, and they did the job. You can get my full thoughts in my match debrief article here, which also includes my player ratings and individual roundups.
Luke Rushbrook is up next with his latest player performance review article. This week he honed in on Cesare Casadei, who is starting to have a decent loan spell now with Leicester City, here.
And we also had Will Reyner drop by for his latest weekly column for us. This week Will is looking at exactly what this Chelsea squad needs to become title challengers again. Obviously this is not a straight-froward question to answer, and there are many elements that come in to play. So I highly recommend reading this one here.
I have gone quite deep into looking at the overall balance of Chelsea’s midfield and the vision that I see shaping up. In this, I have honed in on some comments by a journalist this week questioning Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and the overall balance of Chelsea’s current midfield. Personally, I see it much differently, and I explain all in here.
Finally for this newsletter, check out all the latest Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in the live blog from yesterday here. A lot to digest and dissect in this as always.
I thought I’d wait to do the latest set of polls for today due to the fact we had a game last night and opinions can change a lot off the back of one game!
We have a Podcast later this afternoon and I am delighted to welcome a debut appearance on the Pod for the Assistant Editor for Goal, Krishan Davis.
Krishan has done some great articles lately, one of two of which I have highlighted on articles and on the blog on here. He’s a keen Chelsea fans too, so an ideal guest - I’m very much looking forward to this one. Out around 6pm tonight!
See you all on the live blog from 8am today!
Peace, Si.
Palmer is some player.. lets hope Shields’s other recommendation in Romeo Lavia will come just as good.
