The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Monday 30th October 2023!
Morning all,
Well the good feelings lasted a few weeks I guess! Back to the reality of losing at home to a team we should be beating!
Chelsea lost 2-0 to Brentford on Saturday lunchtime and there is so much to dissect. I was confident of a win before the game, and really, Chelsea should have sewn the win up in the first 45 minutes. But I’m tired of saying that. You can get my full reflections on the game in my debrief article here which features the player ratings and more.
One of the biggest problems Chelsea are having this season is failing to breakdown teams who arrive and setup with a low block and deep defensive line, defending with 10 men behind the ball. Of course, it would help if we had a prolific goalscorer, but how else can you breakdown a low block defence? I have analysed that in here and looked at some solutions.
Despite the defeat on Saturday though, I am still feeling quite positive about the rest of the season and moving forward. That might sound surprising under the circumstances, but I explain all and why in here.
I have a sourced article now and again, it’s a positive one. I did write this on Saturday before the game, but obviously the news and inside info in this still fully stands. Everything is gloomier after a defeat. But Chelsea’s owners are happy with Mauricio Pochettino and the sporting directors, and I explain all that in here off the back of some interesting sourced info.
Finally, check out Sunday’s Chelsea News Bulletin here to get all of your latest Chelsea news from yesterday in one place. Plenty of reactions from pundits, players etc after the game on Saturday, and also some transfer news on a new defender in this!
Right, I’ll see you all on the live blog from 8am today!
Peace, Si.
