We won't make top 6, let alone 4th. The only reason we are 4th is we've just played the weakest two teams in the division. April looks ok, but we could quite easily only get one point for our games in May.
Luke, I said exactly the same as you did above “The return of the 2 players above to complete this trio could be the difference. These 2 make Palmer better, even if I don’t rate Madueke that highly” just yesterday in one of the comments I posted.
I like your analysis, I did the same after the weekend result but came up with one additional point either at Liverpool home or Newcastle away. The ironic aspect is the final game of the season that reminds me of the final game the season before Roman bought us. The winner takes all match. Nottingham Forest away in the final game of the season could be the clincher one way or the other.
I think that cup games might have a big impact on the focus for the other teams.
Champions League for Villa, Cup final this weekend for Newcastle.
Bournemouth, Villa, Forrest, and Brighton are all there to get to Wembley for the FA cup semi. City are obvs heavy favourites for the FA Cup, but every team (except Preston) 'could' win the FA cup this season.
Hope you're right. Really don't want it coming down to the last game, but I think the damage is done. I feel like we're at least 7 or 8 points behind where we should be. Hopefully everyone is fit after the international break and we pick up some surprise results.
This is the thing Jon, just a couple of our sloppy results in the last 2/3 months going in our favour and we'd have all but secured CL football by now. It is firmly in the balance now!
I don't think it's in our hands Luke sadly I think we will have to rely on other teams being as inconsistent as they have been so far. If Fofana stays fit and we get Lavia and Jackson back and staying fit we have a pretty good chance of top five without them its a lottery as to where we will finish.

I think we get 11 points. We're really struggling and getting worse the more we play like Maresca wants us to.
Which games and results are those 11 coming from Mitch? Interested to see how similar your thoughts are to mine!

Technically Nick, it is in our hands, we're 4th. That's what I mean by its in our hands.
I'm just amazed we are 4th so I really shouldn't be surprised if we do finish in a champions league place. Its going to be interesting.
The league is so much more competitive this year, 11 points between 2nd and 9th is frankly ridiculous! Just the 7 between 3rd and 9th......
There's lots of mini fixture swings in there.
Very true.
