Yes, an article promised a little while back… Better late than never right?
With that said, I checked back in with the same source who originally gave me this information and things have not changed since, so here’s the latest on Tammy Abraham’s future at Chelsea Football Club.
I was told by someone close to this situation, that in the current climate surrounding the player, Tammy Abraham will not remain at the club.
Looking at the competition around the centre forward position at Chelsea, aside from potentially Olivier Giroud leaving in the summer, each player will remain with the club next season. With that said, Tammy would remain the third choice forward behind the German duo in Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, a position which understandably does not appeal to the young England forward.
The same source when pressed for further clarification did share that it appears “Thomas Tuchel does not fancy Abraham to lead the line at Chelsea on a consistent basis.” Breaking this down further, it seems Tuchel doesn’t rate Tammy to be the #9 capable to fire Chelsea to league titles and more, of which has to be Chelsea’s goal in the coming years.
To clarify, I am told there has been no breakdown in the relationship between Tuchel and Abraham; no screaming matches or animosity. However, Abraham is growing further frustrated with the situation and more aware that he may not feature in the German’s plans moving forward.
Personally, I think Tammy has deserved more of a chance in recent times when you look at the playing roles alone, especially with the options ahead of him and their inconsistent form.
However, a lot of factors go into these decisions, and Tuchel holds the key opinion/choice in whether Abraham plays or not. If the German coach does not fancy Abraham, that’s his opinion and something will need to give, sooner rather than later.

A sad day when any of our highly talented academy products feels the need to leave. Hopefully he will follow Mason and step up, but if he isn't getting the chance, I respect his decision to leave if or when it comes to that. Best wishes either way #9 Tammy!!
Thanks for the update Dan! It’s a real shame that Tammy is likely to leave as we all want him to succeed here, Tuchel knows it’s a results driven business & he needs success to stay here so patience may not always be the case for some players at times. Well written article as always my friend.
