Back in the UK now and rounding up all the latest Chelsea news from today!
Further reactions from Brighton
Conor Gallagher: "It’s a tough one to take. At the end of the day, we were not good enough individually or as a team. It seemed like they wanted it a bit more than us. We have to look at ourselves.
"We’re to blame and we are gutted, very disappointed in ourselves as a team as we know we’re so much more professional than that. Credit to Brighton, they were very good. They’re a top team, their fans were up for it.
"We were always in the game, even at half time when we were three down. It shows we did have chances and I should have scored in the first half which could have changed the game. It didn’t go that way.
"We had chances, but we need to defend better as a team. We shouldn’t be conceding that many goals so we’re very disappointed. We’re at fault. We need to look at the mistakes, learn from them, dust ourselves off and go again."
Pat Nevin: "I'm watching Raheem Sterling right now and I've said that Graham Potter has got the best from every player since he has been there - with one exception," the 59-year-old said.
"If he keeps playing the way he is right now, he's not even a consideration for the World Cup."
Thiago Silva: “Yesterday was a very difficult day, and today still is as we hate losing. However, we have to raise our heads and move on. We have to be even stronger in these 4 games that are missing before the World Cup! Let's go Chelsea.”
Ian Wright: “They [wingbacks] weren’t really helping Chalobah and Cucurella and they were getting pulled all over the place. There’s no real cover.”
Gary Lineker: “Is that [wingbacks] one for the dustbin?” Ian Wright: Yes, it is.”
Transfer news
Fabrizio Romano: “Chelsea targeting Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez again in January is a possibility but not something that is guaranteed yet. He remains highly regarded at Stamford Bridge.”
According to The Daily Mirror, Brighton will sell Moises Caicedo, but only for £85m! Chelsea and Newcastle are targeting the midfielder.
Contract news
Fabrizio Romano on N’Golo Kante: “I’m told there’s still nothing advanced between him and any club. He’s happy in London but negotiations with Chelsea are not easy, so he has serious chances to leave on a free transfer."
Misc
Fabrizio Romano: “Talks with Brighton's head of recruitment Paul Winstanley and former RB Leipzig director Christopher Vivell are progressing, and everything is expected to be completed with Chelsea in the coming days.”
