Sources: Potentially Replacing Three Goalkeepers
A couple of new names being considered in the sticks
Chelsea are facing the prospect of potentially having to replace three goalkeepers in the summer, in a scenario that could genuinely come up.
Of course, the ball is in Chelsea’s court with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy at least, because both of them have contracts until 2025. However, it soon becomes decision time in the summer when they will have only two years left on their contracts.
It will not necessarily mean panic stations yet, but the club are now very aware about contracts running down and are aiming to avoid contract situations like we have seen in the last couple of seasons with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, N’Golo Kante, and Jorginho.
So this summer will be decision time for Chelsea, for Mendy, and for Kepa. For Marcus Bettinelli, it looks highly likely that he will be off as a free agent come the summer, unless any drastic changes happen from now until then. So, Chelsea are aware that they might need to replace three goalkeepers pretty soon.
