Sources: Milan Skriniar 'high' on Chelsea's list of centre back targets
It's time to add another centre back to your list of players to track!
Yes we know, there are about ten names that have been mentioned over the last couple of weeks, and whilst Chelsea will always have a shortlist of targets - not all of the names you are hearing about will be legit.
But they will keep their options open, and a lot will depend on what Thomas Tuchel wants to do.
The fact does remain though, that the Chelsea board are still looking to sign a new centre back this summer, and there are many targets.
Dayot Upamecano was one, but as reported he is on his way to Bayern Munich this summer. As the reliable Matt Law of The Telegraph has also reported, Chelsea scouts had reservations about the RB Leipzig defender anyway.
We have asked some questions over the last week, and what appears quite clear is that Inter centre back Milan Skriniar IS on Chelsea’s potential list of targets, and we have been told that he is ‘high’ on the list.
The whispers are that all might not be rosy between the 26-year old Slovakian international and Antonio Conte, and he is a defender that the Chelsea board have admired for some time.
He was considered before Thomas Tuchel arrived, and he is still being considered now. I expect his name to pop up as we get closer to the summer.
But as I conclude, a big factor will be who Tuchel would like to bring in, and a collective decision will be made. We know that Tuchel will not be making transfer decisions, the ultimate decision always remains with the board, but the German boss will always get a say.
