As I reported multiple times over the summer window, Chelsea were trying to sign a new centre back even before Levi Colwill got injured.
It was a position that they collectively wanted to try and upgrade in, but it was never seen as the main priority. Enzo Maresca wanted to prioritise the attack but make no mistake, he also wanted a new centre back in.
