Sources: Chelsea looking to extend Jorginho's contract
The double European Champion looks set to stay at Chelsea this season at least
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has just been crowned a European Champion for the second time this season.
He was colossal for Italy in helping them win the European Championships this summer, not long after helping Chelsea win the Champions League.
There has been a lot of talk about his future at Chelsea, with his agent obsessively talking about it publicly all the time.
However, Jorginho himself, as well as his agent, have confirmed that he will be staying at Stamford Bridge this season at least.
It does seem pretty clear that he would like to one day return and play in Italy, but that won’t be this summer.
We have actually been told that Chelsea are keen to speak to him about extending his contract when he returns back for pre-season training in a few weeks time.
His current deal ends in 2023, leaving him with two-years left. Chelsea are keen to extend because they have been more than happy with his performances, and this will also give them leverage if he does decide he wants to return to Italy next summer.
If they cannot extend his deal, then he will just have a year remaining next summer and his value will decrease. Chelsea can conquer that by signing him on to an extended contract.
But as I say, the club are very happy with Jorginho right now, Thomas Tuchel is very happy, and Jorginho is very happy at Chelsea.
