Sources: Chelsea DO want more experience but it's not that simple, Chelsea 1 Everton 0, Jarrad Branthwaite passes Chelsea audition, Joe Cole slams centre back recruitment, Blues News Report, More....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Monday 28th April 2025!
Morning all,
I hope you had a good weekend whatever you got up to. It was nice to have a normal Chelsea fixture on a Saturday this weekend, even though it was the early kick off. I did appreciate a less busy Sunday for once and was able to relax whilst doing family things :)
The Blues beat Everton 1-0 in the lunchtime kick off game on Saturday and they had to fight hard to get all three points. Despite some late Everton pressure and some big saves from Robert Sanchez, Chelsea held on to their lead to get and essential three points. You can get my full thoughts, debrief, ratings, and more here.
Next up, grab all your latest Chelsea news in our Blues News Report here rounding up all the general news from Sunday covering transfer news, quotes, and more reactions from the game.
Joe Cole was on commentary for the Everton game and it was great to have a Chelsea voice speaking on it. Cole was critical at one point on Chelsea’s centre back recruitment again as he was complimenting the excellent performance from Trevoh Chalobah. Cole has often been critical on recruitment and you can read his latest quotes as well as my reactions here.
Jarrad Branthwaite was on the losing team on Saturday but he certainly passed his Chelsea audition. I think he’s a superb centre back and would be a good happy medium for what Chelsea want and need in terms of profile and experience. You can get my words on that in full here.
A sourced article up now and this one is on Chelsea wanting to add more experience to their squad. Matt Law put out an article over the weekend that some people have ran with and got the wrong end of the stick on. So I have addressed that here and got some more info and updates on what we are looking to do in the transfer market this summer.
See you all on the next live blog from around 8.30am today!
Peace, Si.
