Sources: 5 names on Chelsea's new left back shortlist! Chelsea STILL need a spine with leadership, Jackson can be our Mathys Tel ALONGSIDE Liam Delap! Enzo Maresca - time to be brave, #ChaloBACK!....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday 16th January 2025!
Morning all,
Hope you’re all having a top week so far!
No game for Chelsea this weekend, we are on the Monday Night Football show at home to Wolves ahead of going to Manchester City next weekend!
After what was meant to be an ‘easy’ run of games, we have some very tough fixtures coming up, and I’ve been speaking to many fans who are starting to grow more and more concerned. I don’t think I’m overly concerned right now, but there are certainly many negatives creeping in. I also have one main gripe with Enzo Maresca that he needs to change - his in-game management. And we can kick things off today with my view on that in here.
Before we get into the rest of the content, it will be best to head to our live blog from yesterday where I put out all of the latest general Chelsea news and any big transfer rumours from across the last 24 hours in the same place here. In this I will always put out what we know on any big stories that come out. Of course, the biggest news from yesterday was Trevoh Chalobah being recalled - I’ll have my full opinion (and some ranting) out on this later today….
I did have a sourced article out yesterday too, and this was on new left back names being explored by the club. I have a handful of names to be revealed in here!
The next two articles are reactions from posts I saw on X after the Bournemouth game.
A friend of the site, Joe Tweedy, put out a post that resonates hard and is absolutely spot on.
"Still need a goalkeeper, centre back, midfielder and forward. As we did in the summer. As we did in the summer before etc."
I put out my views on that, and actually a bit of a big rant from me, on this situation in here.
And leading on from that, another Chelsea fan suggested Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson playing together, if we sign Delap of course as there is no guarantees that happens yet. I think this is something that would actually work a treat though, and I explain why in here.
I’ll be on the live blog from around 8.30am this morning and also back on the Podcast with Jai later today too. So look out for that! Going to look at bringing in a transfer journalist on the Pods for the last couple of weeks of the window too!
Peace, Si.
I’d like Jackson on the left Delap in the middle and Palmer on the right with Nkunku behind or bloody Felix if you must. Power pace and skill.
Saw that Liverpool are keen on Kerkez to replace Robertson, so we might need to act quickly and efficiently to land him if we want him - not our strong suit.
