Some don’t want The Europa Conference League? I will always take any European Football we can get….

Here’s why……

Good Evening Ladies and Gents,

Today I want to pen a short opinion piece on European Football and why I think it is important for us to qualify for any of the competitions available to us.

Firstly, we have such a young squad that matches and experience in different environments are key to development and progression. A lot of our young squad are inexperienced in with playing in European competitions and some haven’t played in any version of European competition.

Many people are not a fan of The Europa Conference League and I do get their reasoning, but for me you look at some of the teams in there this season, the likes of Aston Villa, Lille, Ajax etc they are big clubs it is not just a walk in the park or trips to random clubs and countries, however there is an element of that.

Some of my favourite memories are watching Chelsea win the Europa league against Benfica and Arsenal as well as some great performance in the knockout rounds of both of those seasons.

Ideally we all want Champions League football, that’s obvious and goes without saying really and I would be happy with Europa League, it’s a very strong competition these days and one that any club should be proud to win. The Conference League has got stronger with each year of its existence and it would also put us in a position to be the first club in history to win all 3 major European competitions.

Being in Europe gives us the flexibility to have a slightly larger squad, rotate more players and breed more youngsters through our squad, whilst also giving whichever manager is in charge more chance to develop his style of play on the pitch.

I actually don’t see a downside to us playing in any form of European competition, it’s not as if we have a fairly small squad with limited depth, we have more than enough to be able to play in multiple competitions through a season.

I am really intrigued to get all of your thoughts on this subject and this article sisters Si’s article from earlier today with my thoughts only.
