Sergio Aguero talks
The Manchester City striker is genuinely being considered as an option for Chelsea
As we reported last week, Chelsea have a genuine interest in signing Sergio Aguero as a free agent when he leaves Manchester City in the summer.
As our insider Dan McCarthy wrote last week confirming our interest in Aguero, he also reiterated that sources have told him that Aguero to Chelsea is more of a backup plan and ‘extremely unlikely.’
This might be true, but since then, I have personally been told by a reliable source that Chelsea have held initial ‘break the ice’ discussions with Aguero’s representatives to gauge his interest in the move, if anything did transpire.
Unfortunately I have been unable to get any clarification on the result of these talks, but if you believe the rumours from last week from a couple of publications, including The Evening Standard, then Aguero is open to the idea of moving to Chelsea and is keen to stay in the Premier League.
However, as I said, I cannot confirm or deny this. The Standard though, are usually classed as a pretty decent source.
As per Dan’s info though, I am also told that Aguero is only ever a backup option for now, or a potential option if some crazy things happen with our own strikers and we end up losing both Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud in the summer, then I wouldn’t rule out Aguero arriving as well as say, an Erling Haaland for example.
But these are a lot of if’s and but’s, and purely speculation.
The facts here is that Chelsea have an interest in Aguero this summer, and they have held initial talks - these have so far been informal.

Match winner, killer in front of goal & would be a great character to have around our young crop! With Tammy & Giroud likely to leave I’d love to see Aguero come in. Thanks for the update on this Si👊
