The Euros are over, and even though silly season has already been busy, strap yourselves in for it to really start boiling up now.
Chelsea will always be mentioned strongly in the rumour mill, especially because once again they are only one of a handful of teams who have the money and means to be spending big this summer.
We know they want to bring in a new striker as priority, that has been the case for a while, but there could be arrivals in other areas as well.
Erling Haaland is the main guy still, and we posted an update on that here.
But just know that the club ARE looking at alternatives just in case they cannot get him, and they will be signing a striker regardless this window, as Fabrizio Romano recently reported.
So what about Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona?
His club need to reduce their wage bill by either selling or loaning a few big players this summer, and Griezmann is largely reported to be one of them.
Now, Spanish publication SPORT are oddly linking our name with him.
These guys aren’t massively reliable, but they are a local press source for Barcelona so they can often get it right when it comes to things involving the club.
Personally, I don’t think there is anything more here than just speculation, purely because he doesn’t fit the type of strikers that we have been looking at this summer.
The talk of a loan though does perhaps make sense for both sides. It would get his wages, or at least part of them off the bill, and it would be a temporary fix for Chelsea if they cannot land Haaland or another top target until next summer, taking a different striker on loan would make sense.
However, as I say, I cannot see anything coming of this rumour.
