Props to Pochettino's hard stance on penalty incident, Should there even be an Enzo conversation? Chalobah and Silva connection - CB conundrum, Luke buzzing after Everton win, More..
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Wednesday April 17th 2024!
Morning all,
Wow, we are firing through April already now aren’t we? The end of the season is near, and Chelsea have European qualification dreams still alive and really, very much in our own hands. I’m refusing to allow any real confidence and optimism back into my thinking yet though for my own good, despite the incredible 6-0 drumming of Everton earlier this week.
Speaking of that game, I’ve got a few more reaction articles based off incidents and things I noticed during the tie coming up below as my next set of content.
First and foremost, let’s address the penalty incident. I’m not banging on about it because Mauricio Pochettino has owned it, says he’s dealt with it, and that is what was needed. I’m actually praising the boss here for the way he dealt with it and for the words he said after the game, so big props to the gaffer on this one.
My next reaction article is on the defensive centre back pairing Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva. I think these two have a decent connection, but both are likely leaving in the summer. This made me ponder some things a bit deeper and also hone in on Conor Gallagher being likely to leave this summer. None of this really sits right with me even though I understand why we might have to sell, find out why in here.
And the last reaction article of the day from me is on Enzo Fernandez and how well Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher played in his absence. This led to questions on whether Enzo even gets his place back in this midfield? It’s a warranted question, but not something I’m really willing to entertain right now, and I explain why in here.
There were plenty more reactions from the game, as well as the latest transfer news and general Chelsea news in the live blog from yesterday here. This covers all the latest from across the last 24 hours!
And finally for this newsletter, our anchor man is in the building. Luke has written his reactions to our 6-0 thrashing of Everton on Monday, and you can read that in full here.
Join me on today’s live blog from around 8.30am today!
Peace, Si.
