Positives and negatives from Wrexham win plus 3 things we learned, Bad squad building ignoring GK & ST positions, Huge depth of our squad, Full news roundups, Much more...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Friday 26th July 2024!
Morning all,
So Chelsea have now played their first game of the new pre-season campaign ahead of another long season pending. There was plenty of positives as well as negatives to take away from the game and the result, but essentially it’s just the first game of pre-season so nobody should be forming any judgements yet. We have the next game on Saturday night vs Celtic and another chance to show more positives as we push on through the pre-season schedule Let’s go!
I put my full thoughts on the Wrexham game, debrief, conclusion, manager/player ratings in my deep dive report which you can check out in full here if you haven’t already.
Our guy Dylan was on the game live this week of course, and he has posted his ‘3 things we learned’ article off the back of it. You can check that out in full in here.
The Score came with his second banger in one week for us yesterday. He’s written about how Chelsea are neglecting a quality squad build at either end of the pitch - goalkeeper and striker. With the Filip Jorgensen news ramping up, and no sign of a striker coming in who improves what we already have yet, please do check out this here which I fully agree with every word on.
Next we have another SPTC legend Luke with his thoughts. He’s looked into the squad depth we have this season and even with sales, it will still be huge! You can read that in full in here. This could be a big issue…
Rounding up all your latest transfer news, rumours, quotes, match reactions, match build up for Saturday, polls, sourced news, and everything else that has gone on from the last 24 hours in one place in here. Some Desire Doue sourced news in this one 👀
Oh and don’t forget to check out our latest Podcast here, where we went through the Wrexham game and all the recent transfer happenings at the club.
Right, I’ll be back on the site Sunday so see you all then. If anything big goes off or I get given any news to pass on before then, I’ll jump on the app as usual.
Have a good weekend!
Peace, Si.
A lot of conflicting reports about Filip Jorgensen.. how good is he at playing out from the back? - I’ll be honest, I’ll rather have Felipe Scolari play out from the back over Sanchez. Can see why he was Brighton’s 3rd choice.
Nice to Jorgensen already has that Villarreal link with Nicholas Jackson, let’s see if they can pull a top winger (Nico Williams esc) out the bag.. doubtful these days, but it does make you laugh considering they was gonna spend it on Olise?
Not saying Nkunku can’t play up top.. but I don’t wanna be relying on that to get in the top 4 when he operates best off the left.. would love to see a top striker get brought in alongside Jackson, (Julian Alvarez?)
