Moises Caicedo
Player profile;
Age: 21
Nationality: Ecuadorian
Position: Holding/Central Midfield
Height: 5ft10in
Finally…….. I have been itching to compile this profile for so long. We finally have our DM, this is the Profile we have missed the most over the last 5 years, in my view.
Moises Caicedo is a 30+ cap Ecuador international who came through at his boyhood club, Independiente del Valle. Making 31 appearances for IDV before moving across to Europe.
A transfer to Brighton in the winter transfer window of 2021 was the start of things to come for Caicedo. In the summer transfer window of 2021 there was a lack of suitors and he even ended up on ‘transferroom’ at one point, before Beerschot in Belgium took a chance on him. That is truly when this mans life changed. He had an excellent 6-month loan in Belgium which (along with some injuries) forced Brighton to recall him early in January 2022, and they never looked back from there. The rest is history.
Style of play;
Caicedo is an energetic, progressive and determined midfielder, he is a world-class ball retriever, but also excellent at progressing the ball once he has won it. Brilliant at transforming his team from defence to attack, Caicedo ranks in the top 15% of all midfielders in Europe for the following metrics; Passes, Pass completion (top 5%), tackles and interceptions.
He also has excellent statistics for Progressive passes, successful take-ons, blocks and Aerial duels won. He truly is an all-round midfielder and at 21 years of age will only get better under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino.
His track record with absences is excellent, only ever being suspended once (yellow card accumulation) and barely ever injured. The suspension record is pivotal for me, to play the position he does and to rarely pick up suspensions is an excellent barometer of his tackle success.

Verdict;
TRANSFORMATIVE.
This is truly a top drawer signing for us, take away the money (nobody talks about Enzo’s fee, 6 months on) take away the saga, this signing (along with Lavia) sorts our midfield for the next 5+years.
This midfield is already world class, but with Enzo being the oldest at 22, it is actually scary how could this could become and that is without talking about the likes of Santos, Ugochukwu, Casadei, Hall & Webster etc to add into the mix.
It finally feels like we have a solid and incredible spine to our team, which is something I firmly believe you need to be successful.
So if you can’t tell already my verdict is, I’m pretty happy with this one.
